@Scroll: Lubricating effect: Apparently not, this stuff is greasy like the plague. If you drip that clear stuff on something, it won't come off. "Yellow" diesel, on the other hand...

Right now, yes. Recently, I filled up at Shell because of the prices, and the attendant took a customer card without asking and scanned the barcode during refueling. It gave a discount of over 60 cents, completely without registration. And that still works.

I would never sign up for that, but as long as it can be done without me...

I feel the same way about winter diesel. I always get the impression that it lacks power. I even once put 20 liters of premium gasoline into the empty tank, and I thought it felt more like summer diesel.

It's not particularly surprising. Different additives are used in the winter. These additives reduce the ignition temperature and make it more difficult for large wax molecules to form. However, these additives also slightly reduce the fuel's energy content.
Aral Ultimate Diesel is consistently and uniformly treated with additives throughout the year, although this comes with certain other drawbacks.
