That was my first thought as well.
I disassembled it, cleaned it with brake cleaner, and then blew it dry.
It absolutely didn't bring any improvement.
I might end up trying out a new one after all.

Solution:

It wasn't LMM, but the change had brought about something positive.
The problem was with the boost pressure sensor located in the intake manifold.
After that, I reinstalled the old mass airflow sensor, and it worked as the owner was used to, and he even said it seemed a little better.
It smokes a bit black, but it draws well.
