A3 TDI: No Power? Troubleshooting Guide.

Hello and good morning to everyone.
I'm planning to take over an A3 (new model) from a colleague. I drove the car yesterday, and I feel like it has very little power. It's a 1.9 TDI PD with 77 kW, manufactured in December 2003. Previously, I had a Bora with a 115 PS PD engine. The Bora had good torque from low RPMs, which the A3 doesn't seem to have at all. In my opinion, the A3 engine has very little torque and power in the higher RPM range. Is there really such a big difference compared to the 115 PS PD engine in the Bora?

Now I'm unsure whether there might be something more serious wrong with it, or if it could just be the mass airflow sensor (MAF). Unfortunately, I don't have one to try out. Would it help if I do a test drive using VAG-COM and post the recorded data here?
Which measurement blocks should I register for that?
I urgently need some good advice because I have to make a decision about the car soon.
