However, the theory and its calculations do not take all factors into account in this case. A T5 model, where the speedometer indicates 200 km/h, is likely only traveling at around 180 km/h. The reading on the MFA (Multi-Function Display), even when not overly adjusted or "beautified," consistently deviates upwards from the readings on the instrument cluster.

I have the CS module from Canshack installed for the MFA, and I can display the values directly via CAN, which is quite interesting. At 150 km/h on the speedometer, the CAN bus reports a speed of 136 km/h. Therefore, at a speedometer reading of 200 km/h, the actual speed is only a maximum of 180 km/h. Consequently, those 180 horsepower are not necessary .

I'm going to bring a GPS device with me and then see what information it displays. While GPS isn't 100% accurate either, it's certainly more precise.

If you can drive for a few minutes with a consistent GPS signal, it will become very accurate.

As a general rule of thumb, for the T5, you can estimate the achievable top speed in km/h as follows:
Take the cube root of the horsepower, then multiply the result by 33.
Example: 174 horsepower, the cube root of that number is 5.583. 33 mph is equal to 184.24 km/h.
VW states a power output of 174 horsepower and a top speed of 184 km/h.
