Hello Jan,

I have the same car as you, although we don't have a balance shaft module anymore.
but what about the oil pump that is driven by a timing belt in an oil bath?
will?
If it breaks, it's time to go home.
According to the self-study materials, the belt does not need to be replaced.
I'm already anxious about the day when the oil pressure warning light comes on.

Best regards, Christian.

Hi,

I wouldn't call that "the end of the workday"... unlike a broken timing belt, which drives the camshafts, nothing immediately breaks in this case. I hope it's enough to simply turn off the engine immediately when the oil pressure warning light comes on. It definitely won't run without any oil.

It wouldn't be ideal for the turbo if that happened while driving at full speed on the highway.

Best regards,

Jan.

We will have to get used to that. Other manufacturers are already integrating the water pump into the oil-cooled timing chain system.

It's simply a matter of "stinginess," not a question of technical feasibility.

As far as I know, all timing rollers for oil pumps at VAG come from Dayco, so that's why... icon_wink.gif
