And another status update:
Despite the battery providing decent values, I almost had to be towed yesterday .
When starting the engine, the starter motor turned about twice before it stopped working as if the power suddenly cut out. Although the battery seems to be okay, after 24 hours of inactivity, it doesn't provide a satisfactory result.
In addition to the new battery, I will also slightly increase the fuel injection amount; I expect this to result in a small additional improvement .

Hi,
Have you checked the wiring, as has been asked repeatedly? I experienced similar strange phenomena after a visit to the workshop, where the professionals had not properly tightened one of the battery terminals.
Best regards,
Jan.

Hi,
Incredible... this is already the second case of its kind (the other one was probably bigger and discovered faster, but it made it all the way to Spiegel Online), within the last few weeks.
Best regards,
Jan.

"I wonder if it smelled like gasoline?"
How much gasoline did you put in the tank, or how much diesel was left in the tank?
Possibly, I would consult a vehicle expert.
Even if the vehicle appears to be running normally again after cleaning, there is a risk of potential long-term consequences from the diesel particulate filter (DPF).

I spoke with the gas station attendant.
According to their analysis, the gasoline content in the diesel pump was 8%.
I filled up a total of 51 liters of fuel, which is approximately 5 liters of gasoline.
On Friday, I have my first appointment where an initial assessment will be carried out. Afterwards, there will likely be a second appointment with an expert from the insurance company – the workshop also confirmed this procedure to me.
More information will follow .

Am I mistaken, or is it permissible to add up to 30% gasoline to the fuel tank for winter operation (as a substitute for winter diesel)?
If I'm not mistaken, the engine shouldn't exhibit any problems when running on 8% gasoline.

You are the injured party. At least in the case of comprehensive insurance claims, you have the right to choose your own appraiser. If this also applies to this case, then I would under no circumstances accept an appraiser from the opposing insurance company. An appraiser always acts to some extent in the interest of the client. Especially in cases with such unclear damage situations, like yours, where the engine runs again after a fuel change, there is a great risk that you will initially only receive compensation for the actual fuel costs plus any workshop costs incurred so far.
When you choose your own expert assessor, you have a much better chance of obtaining an assessment that is favorable to your interests. This could potentially include new findings regarding factors such as fuel consumption or lifespan, or at the very least, a significant reduction in value.
Therefore, I would advise you to find out as soon as possible whether you are required to accept the opposing reviewer or if you have the option of choosing your own reviewers.
Greetings.
Sure.

When starting the engine, the starter motor turned about 2 times and then simply stopped working, as if the power suddenly went out. | It's not surprising, especially if the 13.7V you mentioned earlier while the engine is running is accurate. Because a battery only charges properly in the range of 14.2 - 14.4V.
13.7V is quite low for the maintenance charging of a fully charged battery.
If a battery never receives more than 13.7V of charging voltage for months or years, it is likely not even half-charged and may already be partially sulfated, meaning it's close to being unusable.
Therefore, I would strongly recommend checking (or having checked) the charging system and the current path to the battery.

If I'm not mistaken, the engine should show no problems whatsoever when running on 8% gasoline. | Um... AFAIK, this applies to older engines like the almost indestructible mechanical VP diesel engines.
However, modern injection systems like PDE (pump-injector direct) cannot tolerate the use of leaded gasoline additives because they then experience problems with internal lubrication.

Today I went to the Volkswagen dealership. After a lengthy discussion, including with the lawyer representing the gas station, I am now required to submit a cost estimate in order to have the damage repaired.
I asked the workshop to include a note on the cost estimate stating that consequential damages cannot be excluded, as approximately 6-7,000 kilometers were driven after the date of the initial inspection.
On Monday, I'll be getting that great item; would you like me to post it here?

The process continues... I was denied a cost estimate because potential consequential damages cannot be ruled out... I am now in contact with the insurance company and have suggested having an expert assessment done.

The matter isn't entirely off the table yet – there's now something more concrete developing.
I dropped off the car at the to get an inspection report. They kept the car there for 4 days.
However, the day before the appointment, I received information that only a cost estimate could be prepared, not an expert opinion.
Done and said - here's the cost estimate.
I've done some more research, and as soon as I have concrete information, I will share my analysis here.

It would be conclusive evidence if there were now a defect or flaw whose cause could be attributed to the gasoline additive... ... that's how I see it.
This deficiency would also need to be addressed.

correct, which is why I used the "" .
However, I do have some serious criticisms:
- Poor engine start.
- Erratic idle speed.
- Severe jerking/shaking from 4th to 6th gear (during acceleration).
Everything points towards PD coking and leakage.
I have now ordered an ultrasonic cleaner from EMAG. The PD elements will be released next week, cleaned, and reinstalled with a new seal.
Should I ideally replace the tips? It's probably not possible to really assess their condition before removing them.

I believe that no insurance will cover damages of that specific nature.
There must be demonstrable damage caused by a lack of lubrication. The workshop is responsible... and possibly an expert who can confirm this.
Everything else is speculation.
My intention is to replace all the fuel injectors. The rest of the fuel system should be able to handle the change without issues.

Basically, you're completely right – I'm hoping for a little more understanding from the insurance company.
At least, there were approximately 30 vehicles in total, all of which incurred similar costs. In some cases, the common rail systems reportedly cost nearly €8,000.
I'm just sending it now and will see their feedback later.
