Of course, new models are not all introduced at the same time in a particular year.
However, with your own car, you know what works and what doesn't, at the very least after the first attempt. And if you're doing diagnostics on many different car models professionally, it's pointless to hope that even a car from the 2018 model year will still be compatible.
