Hi Ulf,

Okay, now! icon_biggrin.gif Thank you for your patience!
I also reread the "DIY solution for starting problems in engines with VP 37". icon_wink.gif

@StefanViewing profile: Stefan and Gaspedal

I had anticipated from the beginning that this post might encounter resistance. But I really didn't expect something like this. icon_biggrin.gif Please consider for yourselves, for what reason I am not mentioning a name here in A PUBLIC FORUM .

Greetings.
Thomas.

Hello,

It's perfectly fine that Thomas didn't mention any names in his statement.

Here's what speaks in favor of a name:
- others don't necessarily have to make the same mistake.

Against this argument:
- Thomas may incur significant trouble due to business damage, etc.
- Since he has already installed the chip, he is now dependent on the seller's goodwill in case of any problems.
- It is quite possible that I could receive a warning as the administrator of this forum for publishing such statements.

Alternative: If you can't call the devil by his name, then just say Belzebub... icon_cool.gif

Best regards, Rainer.

The sun is tickling my nose right now, and I really need to say this:

The weather today is really great... Ouch - don't hit me right away. It's not entirely off-topic, especially if you think about the summer weakness of our TDI engines...

That's the taste of summer... that's what summer tastes like...

@ThomasViewing profile: Thomas!

AuThey addressed all my questions, treated my car with great care, and then took me for a test drive.
I would like to point out that a company's public image can sometimes suffer when, for example, seemingly competent new employees don't perform their jobs properly, and this isn't recognized quickly enough by the boss. Of course, the boss bears the responsibility, and how they treated you is simply unacceptable. However, I have personally had consistently positive experiences.
It would be nice if I were mistaken about the name of the tuner.

Best regards,
Uwe

Hello Thomas,

Your experiences weren't pleasant.
AlThey were fair.

It's true that sometimes employees can be unreliable, and even good employees can have bad days.

Have you installed the larger nozzles yet?
I'm happy to discuss it with you and turn your Czech steam locomotive into an environmentally friendly racing car!

I hope that this incident was an isolated case. We also have a report for that, of course, regarding the environmentally friendly racing car.

Greetings from Koblenz.

It's great that the weather is already becoming active and posting about it.

Does he even still own that car?

"You wouldn't believe that he was driving around like that if it bothered him, would you?"

I'm not sure about this, but I wonder if you really want to give them your car. Maybe they need six months just to adjust it... or even years???

WELL, THIS JUST GOES TO SHOW THAT QUALITY DOESN'T COME FROM THE NAME!

See you, Basti.

@basti!

What do you expect? That the workshop/tuner will read the entire internet and constantly check to see if their name is mentioned anywhere?

I think it's great that even after more than half a year, the company in question is taking responsibility for its actions and promising to provide solutions. At least, the name wasn't explicitly mentioned. The hints could have been misleading.

Best regards,
Uwe

Hey everyone,
Even though it's quite late, as mentioned before, not every mechanic can access information online, even though it would be beneficial for many of them.
Thomas' report referred to several people, not just one. In that sense, you can't simply dismiss it by saying it only concerns 'individual employees.'

However, when someone identifies themselves here, admits to mistakes, promises improvement, and offers to make amends, that is already much more than one can expect from most others.

Now it would be interesting to hear about the experiences people have had recently.

Okay, so: Anyone who reads this and has something to report, please feel free to share!

For my part, I can imagine that the things described by Thomas, which I have absolutely no reason to doubt, don't always work out that way; otherwise, word would soon get around.

It might be advisable for someone who has specific expectations about what needs to be done not to rely on verbal agreements made over the phone, but rather to clarify everything in writing (e.g., via email) beforehand, as this can help reduce misunderstandings and disagreements.

@ ********: My experience with workshops in general is that customers are often underestimated and made to feel foolish. I once experienced this at a Bosch service center here in Rbg-Ost, where someone actually took the time to talk to me briefly and in detail to assess what I knew before proceeding. Perhaps you should train your staff to do the same.

I have repeatedly experienced the arrogance that Thomas described, where workshop 'experts' act superior to those they perceive as laypeople, and I now react with extreme anger and intentionally hurtful remarks.
If a self-proclaimed expert is proven wrong by a customer in their shop, perhaps even in front of their apprentices, it might not make them popular, but they're certainly less likely to repeat that mistake quickly.

This is exactly what happened with VAG, who told me that my chip had deactivated due to a loss of performance (mass airflow sensor). (Note: 'chip' refers to the EEPROM, which contains the engine control program!)
Or at ATU, someone told me that a larger battery (with 10Ah more capacity) would damage my alternator.
and so on!

No matter how much stupidity, arrogance, and incompetence annoy me, ultimately you have to deal with people everywhere who make mistakes. The difference lies in how you handle it.

I much prefer someone who admits a mistake and tries their best to fix it, compared to someone I suspect is determined to maintain an image of perfection at all costs.

'First of all, I know absolutely nothing about the incident myself, so I have to believe what is being reported. My employees are unlikely to admit it or present a different version of events.'
I only recognized my test setup and my diagram in the images.

Secondly, the commenter is right; I can't search the internet to see if a customer is experiencing stomach pain. If they still have their invoice, someone who can read should be able to find our phone number or email address and request further assistance.

Not really. Since the "tuning" was switchable, I could revert to the standard software with the press of a button.

We now have our own software. icon_smile.gif

I completely agree with that.

I wouldn't attack anyone if they occasionally misstep in their tone.
As long as the work is done well, we can discuss the customer service policy.

But this shows me that you probably didn't read the report.
I often wrote about negative experiences.
However, I am also more than willing to talk about it.

Thank you for the offer. I will get back to you regarding this matter.

I hope that this incident was an exception. We naturally also have an expert opinion for that. For the environmentally friendly racing car, I mean.

A report or assessment for the fuel injectors of an AXG engine in an AFN vehicle that has been chip-tuned?
That would be a complete revolution. Until now, this was only possible with individual assessments!

I agree with that. I think it's great. However, if I owned a company and someone wrote something negative about me on a popular forum, I would also try to repair my reputation.

However, in my opinion, this is a good foundation for further discussions.

I would like to say that I have received an incredible number of messages.
Most of them were based on hearsay, and I was asked not to mention the senders. I respect that, but I would appreciate it if those people also shared their experiences with (chip) tuners here.

To be honest, I don't quite understand this attitude.
However, I also understand that as a manager, you can't always be everywhere at once.

However, it is also true that I could have claimed a refund for my "tuning."
Please understand why I didn't do that. If someone had shown you such a lack of technical understanding, you would surely give that workshop a wide berth as well.

I used to be like that.

It's not often that you get the chance to talk to one of Germany's most respected tuners. Why don't you visit forums like this more often?
Here you'll find many customers, you quickly realize which direction the trend is heading, and most importantly, there's feedback available. Perhaps there's even something to learn here? I just wonder why so few tuners are active in forums.

A well-known Austrian tuning company in Graz stated that they cannot tolerate the stupidity on websites like this and therefore do not visit them.

See you later.
Greetings.
Thomas.

Der Then Mr. had to leave, and he encouraged me to take a closer look at the Weatherauer team's cars in the pit lane, which I then did.I have also done that.
All the Weather TDI models stood out in the competition primarily because they produced absolutely NO visible soot.

"So far, I've considered *** to be the right partner (despite the travel distance). I've generally recommended them without reservation and have thus acquired various new customers."
Despite this, I noticed several things about ***:
I've already had two 1.4 TDIs (AMF) tuned there... and for over 3-4 years, the software has exhibited the same issues (jerking at certain low engine speeds, which doesn't occur with the stock software, excessive visible soot production between 1800-2200 RPM, even under partial load).
With my second vehicle, I pointed out the problems from the beginning, but they still installed the "standard software," which required further adjustments. Even after these adjustments, both cars (once in 2000 and once in 2003) continued to exhibit the same issues, and the soot problem was only marginally resolved.
In the last attempt, about 6 months ago, I was assured (without me having to ask) that work was being done on improved software and that I would be notified. So far, nothing has happened.
Der Kand you wouldn't notice it during a test drive because the soot problem only occurs when the engine is fully warmed up.
To my knowledge, the issue of intermittent jerking (at approximately 1150 RPM) only affects all *** chip variants for the AMF.
Even though other tuners (e.g., CTK in Kiel) might be better at optimizing the chip, especially concerning my engine, the price I can get from ***, including the TÜV certificate, makes the small amount of hesitation worthwhile for me. Ultimately, *** is also capable of achieving a reasonable tuning, but it probably takes a lot of time because everything is done through trial and error. It's understandable why this has to happen at my own car (despite my long journey), when *** itself has had two Lupo TDIs in its fleet for years.
*** tends to sell K&N air filter replacements to unsuspecting customers at a high price, especially when they complain about soot, even though these filters don't solve the problem.

Here's my experience with the 1.8T engine, which is a bit off-topic:
Here, there's also a tendency to promote the sale of these air filter replacements, often advertised as being on "sale" or with a "discount."
Otherwise, a high-quality aftermarket blow-off valve is sold, which is supposed to last longer than the standard one and, above all, allow for faster shifting. In the standard 150 hp 1.8T engine, the slow-acting stock blow-off valve noticeably restricts turbo boost during gear changes.
Unfortunately, this effect is sometimes even amplified after installing the Forge valve. In at least one case, the spring inside the Forge valve was so stiff that it opened very late. Over the phone, the customer (a car mechanic working for Porsche and also a mechanic for a Porsche team in the 24-hour race) was repeatedly told he was "stupid." They claimed, "The valves always work better than the originals; they can't be adjusted to be softer." This contradicted the fact that adjustability was even advertised on the *** website.
It was only after repeated requests that softer springs were sent free of charge, which resolved the issue. The entire problem stemmed from the fact that apparently no employee at *** realized that replacement springs existed and that the advertised "adjustability" of the valve could be achieved through them.

Regards,

Olaf.

It's good that you're posting and trying to express your opinion. Please allow me to ask some critical questions about the entire issue. I certainly don't want to be argumentative or attack you in any way!

- Why this confession now, after almost a year?
- Why such excuses?
'It's true that sometimes employees can be unreliable, and even good employees can have bad days.'
'My employees will probably not admit it or present the situation differently.'
'If he still has his bill, anyone who can read should be able to find our phone number or email address and request a correction.'
Please provide the text you would like me to translate from German to English. I will then give you only the translation, without any explanations.
- why not just say: 'Sorry, something went wrong, this is not our usual business practice.'
- What is your stance on this?
'The two people whose conversation I overheard were talking about an Opel Omega that they had modified the day before. One of them said that after a complaint from the owner, the same software was reinstalled, but the customer was told it was a new, revised version.'

I understand that as a manager, you can't be everywhere or see and know everything. However, the behavior of your employees described here should have been noticeable to you! Or are you not aware of it? Furthermore, it is quite questionable to have employees who are unhappy working for you and/or who only do it for the money. The result of this is clearly evident in this post.

I find your offer commendable for aiming to resolve the issue and satisfy this customer. However, as a customer, I would never want to do business with you again because the trust and confidence in your work have been lost.

I think I know who you're talking about. I've been to Koblenz several times for chip tuning, and my TDIs have collectively covered around 300,000 kilometers without any issues. Of that, 130,000 km were with my current A3, which has 110 horsepower.

The contact person for me was always the same employee, who competently advised and assisted me every time. There were never any complaints; he was always there for me, and people from my circle of acquaintances whom I referred to you were also very well taken care of.

His successor is certainly doing a good job, but he doesn't yet have the same level of knowledge as the employee who left. I recently called the Koblenz office and made a special request. The response was prompt and comprehensive. However, he had to find out how my request could be fulfilled.

Best regards,
Uwe
