Hi,

The adapter you need costs approximately 25 euros at ACR (which, by the way, is outrageous for this quality icon_evil.gif). Basically, it consists of a 10-pin ISO connector on one end and 2x2 cinch connectors on the other, with a single wire to turn on the sound system; this wire needs to be connected to the remote output of the new radio.
The 'output power' icon_smile.gif of the radio refers to the internal amplifier, which you don't need at all, as it is controlled via pre-amplifier outputs (RCA connectors).
The sound system already includes a built-in amplifier, which is located behind the speaker enclosure in the rear left of the trunk.

Best regards, Andy.

@Andy:

First of all, thank you for the quick response. However, one question remains:

While I was searching online for the adapters, I found two different versions.
One for radios up to 4*25W (search term: 'r-active adapter audi full / partial active' at www.dr-boom.de/shop), and one for radios up to 4*50W (Dietz article number here).
How is the radio-DSP connection established in these devices? Probably not through the preamplifier output, because the power output of the radio doesn't matter there, but it's always explicitly limited in the description.

Best regards, Ziby.

That's exactly right. Both of the adapters you mentioned adjust the signal level from the radio's high-level outputs to match the low-level inputs of the amplifier.
Recognizable by the 'black box' in the cable and the 8-pin ISO connectors.
You can save yourself the trouble if your MP3 radio has more than two pre-amplifier outputs (front left, front right, rear left, rear right). Unfortunately, the adapter I suggested cannot be found online; I've tried looking for it before. Unfortunately, I don't have a photo available at the moment.
The adapter consists of a...
10-pin ISO connector connected to a total of 4 RCA connectors and a remote lead. All of this without any 'black box,' which is also unnecessary for this low-level input. I might send another photo in the next few days.

Best regards, Andy.

Yes, thank you again, that makes sense now. There's still one question: what is the allowable voltage at the preamplifier output? How many volts is it for the gamma? Are 4V too much for a new radio?

Hi,
To obtain the gamma values, an oscilloscope measurement will likely be necessary.
Since 4V preamplifier outputs are not commonly used for home audio systems, I suspect that this might be too much power for the sound system.

Yes, thank you! I'm going to get a radio with a 2V power supply.

Hello,
Due to the increased inquiries regarding the adapter I described, I'm sending a few more pictures today. Please excuse the outdated technology of my digital camera icon_redface.gif.

The pin configuration of the red 10-pin ISO connector, located on the vehicle-side of the cable harness for the Nokia sound system, is as follows.
1 free.
2 available.
3 available.
4 free.
5 shielding + black/purple.
6 red/white.
7 blue.
8 brown.
9 white.
10 red/blue

Best regards, Andy.
