The heating on the driver's side had also stopped working for me. However, I was lucky that the burnt spot was only in the seat cushion and didn't go through the upholstery. I repaired the heating element (by resoldering the wires). It worked very well, and I did it without removing the seat or disconnecting the airbag connector. It has been working perfectly again for the past six months.

Okay, I made a mistake. The seat repair at the dealership cost 330.00 EUR, not 260.00 EUR.
I also read in another forum that the 'Highline' models supposedly use 'higher quality' heating mats. My father, however, has a 'Highline' model.
After a phone call with the 0800-VOLKSWAGEN hotline, the dealer contacted me again after a week and announced that they would be issuing a corrected invoice. The extent of the leniency still needs to be clarified.

However, with the 'equal parts' strategy, I can't imagine that the 'Highline' model would have better heating mats than the 'Trendline' model, or... B. are supposedly installed in the SKODA Fabia.
