Okay, so I changed the oil yesterday. Last time, it was Motul 10W40 xyz synthetic, this time I used Castrol GTX 7 5W40 (I'm slowly trying to get the engine used to thinner oils). The oil change itself was okay, but the oil filter change (I'm using a Bosch now, previously it was a Mann filter from the workshop) was a really messy job. After that, I immediately warmed up the car (it's amazing how slowly the engine speed drops when the engine/oil is cold) and then gave it some gas. Of course, I also experienced the limp mode (boost pressure - regulation difference) again. This morning, the oil pressure light didn't flash (immediately after starting). So, I'm happy. Draining the diesel filter was also a difficult task (required removing the air filter box, etc.). Am I allowed to enter this service in the service booklet, or am I not? Because, I did the service, but I'm not a workshop.
Best regards, WarLord.

The service booklet is the property of the 'Alle Leute eines Landes ArbeitsGemeinschaft'. Unauthorized entries will be penalized by punishment of the person who made them.

Well, what does that mean for me? Can I throw away the service booklet? Because, I wouldn't need it anymore if I'm not allowed to write anything in it.
Best regards, WarLord.

Hello, diesel drivers.
I was just on the website www.reifendirekt.de. They offer BP oil of a certain grade there.
0W 30 Longlife II oil for a mere 8.90 Euros.
With a reduction of 12 liters. Sounds much better than 20 euros at the VW forum.
You just need to form a few groups.

Okay, but no one has yet answered my question about the service booklet (I didn't quite understand Rainer's response).

Nojo, but no one has yet answered my question about the service booklet (I didn't quite understand Rainer's answer).
Greetings, WarLord.
and who do you contact in case of a warranty claim?
But seriously: what do you hope to achieve with this post? Do you really think anyone cares? I think you're just trying to get some laughs on your page.
The question is probably just a joke, right?

Greetings, WarLord | .
The only reason I think you shouldn't write your personal notes in the service booklet is that, during the vehicle's warranty or goodwill period, those in charge of paying out claims might find a way to use those notes as an excuse to avoid having to pay anything.
During this period, it is recommended to have the required service performed at the car manufacturer's authorized service center. The only reason for this is to avoid potential issues or complications later on.
If you choose to maintain your car yourself later (after the warranty or goodwill period expires), you can simply put a "Werner" sticker in place of the service stamp, as you purchased the booklet with your vehicle and it is your property.
I find this booklet very useful because it saves me the trouble of having to print out a service plan myself.
Best regards, Rainer.

Of course, you can write whatever you want in there!
Sure, here is the translation of the text from German to English:
'MFG' is an abbreviation for 'Mit freundlichen Grüßen,' which means 'Sincerely' or 'Best regards' in English.

The answer you gave me is good now. Of course, there was no reason not to include all of that in the service record, but Rainer's statement made me a little uneasy (even though the post was funny).
Best regards, WarLord.

... This morning, the oil pressure light didn't flash (immediately after starting)...
Hi,
'This flashing (one or two times) of the oil pressure warning light during a cold or warm start has been occurring on my Galaxy AFN (107,000 km) since last winter (at that time, I was using 5W-40 oil).'
I recently (August 3rd) switched to 0W-40 Castrol oil, partly because of this and partly because of the faster oil circulation in the winter. So far (after 2,000 km), it's working great, meaning there's no noticeable increase in oil consumption.
However, the oil pressure warning light continues to flash, even after the oil pressure sensor has been replaced free of charge, a new Mahle oil filter has been installed, and fresh oil has been added.
Does anyone else still experience this phenomenon, or does anyone have a solution for it?
What could be the cause of this flashing light?
Thank you and greetings.
Ferdinand.

My explanation: The oil leaks out of the channels and into the tub overnight and needs to be pumped back up. This is likely to happen with thinner oils.
Best regards, WarLord.

Hello!
I've read through the online forums about oil, but it seems there's no definitive answer as to which oil is best for a particular engine!
I drive an Audi A4, model year 1996 (engine code AFN), with 300,000 kilometers on the odometer.
The turbo is still old, but the engine is a replacement because the timing belt broke 10,000 km ago.
Unfortunately, someone did a sloppy job, but the engine was running great until then!
The engine has now been running on 10W-40 oil from VW/Audi for the past 10,000 km.
I've had an *** chip installed for 5000 km, which increases the horsepower from 110 to 132.
I plan to only change the oil and use Aral Super Tronic 0W-40.
The price isn't a concern for me, as I can get the oil at a very good price!
'All I care about is whether it's the optimal solution for my vehicle.'
At Audi, they told me today that using 10W-40 oil wouldn't be beneficial for my engine, because it's not a 'longlife' engine (or something similar).
I'd like to hear your opinions on this:
Do you advise me to avoid this oil, given the circumstances, or not?
I would want to drive it year-round, but also use it on the highway at full speed!
If it doesn't have any advantages, then it probably doesn't have any disadvantages, right?
Thank you for the answers, and have a good start to the new year.
Best regards.
Carsten.

Sure, here is the translation of the text from German to English:
'Addendum:'
According to the label, the oil meets the VW standards 50200 and 50500 (version 1/97) and 50301 (version 9/99). It also states: MB sheet 229.3, BMW Longlife-Oil-98, and Porsche.

It's more problematic to remove the filter without it looking like there's just been a shift change on an oil drilling platform... At least with the 1Z in the Golf III.
Deshalb Paper Channel!
I personally use MOBIL 0W-40 oil and change it every 10,000 km! An oil consumption of approximately 0.1 liters per 1000 km is expected when driving 80% on the highway.
But I doubt the engine is burning the oil. I think 1/3 of it is likely being lost due to the defective oil pan gasket, which is leaking.
It will be replaced soon! Unfortunately, it's at the workshop because the engineer at AUDI installed the engine in a way that makes it impossible to replace the oil pan gasket without professional assistance!
Regards,
Manuel.
