Based on the information I was able to read thanks to the help I received here, it seems the engine is not actually in bad condition, but rather that it's a matter of a faulty reading!

Hi vgatuning,

So, am I correct in assuming that your engine starts well but runs poorly and unevenly?

With the compression values mentioned, the engine should not start at all, or it should only start with great difficulty.

Irregular or poor running can also be caused by other factors.
The statement about diesel leaking from the exhaust manifold could be correct. If one or more injectors are not (or not properly) sealing, the engine may not be able to burn all of the injected diesel fuel, and it can flow down the exhaust. In that case, the engine would likely run very poorly.

'Yep, it's running like a bag of nuts, and there's definitely a diesel leak somewhere because the entire underbody panel was completely full, and it was dripping when they took it off.'

Is that thread actually from you?

Do you still remember what the ultimate problem was with those V6 TDI engines? It wasn't mentioned anymore in this thread. And since the thread is from 2003, it's possible you don't remember the car anymore!

Before you invest any more money, I would first remove the valve covers and, after identifying worn camshafts, declare the engine dead!

That's standard for the 2.5 TDI V6!

Regards,

Manuel.

The case has been closed for over 3 years, and Vagtuning has lost interest in it!
However, the combination of letters "V 6 T D I" seems to have a real trigger effect.
