I had an open air filter from K&N installed in my Corrado. (RainerK - stay calm ). I had to install it because there wasn't a suitable air filter that would have allowed me to properly connect the mass airflow sensor (MAF sensor) to it.

And it also whistled (AFN) - in all situations, especially noticeably between 1500-2000 RPM with subsequent throttle closure. Because this car lacked all insulation, underbody padding, and soundproofing, it was very clearly audible. Now, the Audi only whistles when it's cold, and then only for the first minute.
