Regarding the practices of some greedy workshops: I received a quote for the problem. Now, pay attention. It's €1200, including towing to a workshop 500 meters away. The kicker is that the car wasn't even visually inspected! If anyone is interested, I will gladly share the name of this workshop. Calling the VW emergency hotline yielded similar results. First, they tow it at an expensive rate, and then the next workshop decides what to do.

Hi, In my A4 (year of manufacture 1997), the WFS (Window Flush System) also gave me trouble, as it sometimes didn't work. Then, by applying a little pressure to the ring on the lock, it would work again for a while.
I watched the game for 3 months before I finally removed the cover, including the airbag steering wheel. Otherwise, you don't see anything!

I also stretched the cable because it was under tension.
Add a little contact spray to the connector, and you'll see that there have been no failures so far, in a period of 4 weeks.

If this happens again, I will solder in a 5cm cable to make it longer and reduce the voltage.

I personally don't understand how someone can save } by 2 cm of cable.

Then, pray that the contact cleaner you used doesn't cause corrosion on the contacts over the months and doesn't give you more WFS problems!

Some of these products do that, which is why I haven't used them for years.
Instead, use a thin, sprayable oil, and connect and disconnect the connection about 20 times.
The oil washes away dirt and protects the contact surfaces from new corrosion .

That's exactly how I did it!

I forgot to mention something else. You won't find a locking mechanism near the connector that would prevent it from being pulled out, even in an emergency. They've saved another 2 cents! However, in other places, there are locking mechanisms for simple connectors that require a good half hour of fiddling to remove.

Yes, I also didn't use any contact spray, but rather a type of creeping oil.
It's similar to WD 40. This stuff is basically all the same, except mine was free. It's actually a rather expensive industrial machine oil.
