@ Jan

A typical petty criminal probably wouldn't want to steal the entire car; they're more likely to go after things like radios and other easily resalable items.

Hi,

Now, add the speedometer reading of 260 to the tachometer, and you'll have found a current TDI with more than 110 horsepower.

Hmja, there might be something to that icon_confused.gif.

I also find the 260 tire size to be a bit too wide for my car, considering its top speed of 206 km/h... icon_cool.gif If they still made the "good old" mechanical ones, I would have already put on the standard 220 size.

I would buy some and also install them. How about maybe some subtle stickers as well?

The acceptance of stickers is generally lower, isn't it?
I would never deface my car with a sticker.
License plate frames are a good idea and good advertising. Besides, they are not nearly as noticeable as a sticker. And it's unlikely that anyone trying to steal a car would bother to read the inscription on the frame. I think he has other things on his mind at the moment.

Hello fellow DIY enthusiasts,

Comments are good, but don't forget to vote as well.
If I've counted correctly, we currently have 4 'no' votes and 3 'yes' votes for the absolutely amazing diesel mechanic license plate holder. icon_mrgreen.gif

Okay, I think this is better than advertising for a car dealership. Besides, it's a certain privilege to be able to maintain your own car, so why not talk about it? Besides my 'SPORT RADIATOR GRILLE,' this would be the second visible tuning modification on my baby-changing machine.

There's no way to install the GP01. The radio is almost inseparable from the center console and likely won't work in any other car. It's very frustrating for those who want to install something else (like an MP3 player), but thankfully, nobody is stealing them.

My speedometer goes up to 220... that reveals very little icon_wink.gif.

That's probably true... Advertising for "new EU cars" is probably not the smartest thing to do – that's what I'm currently thinking.

Basically, I would be immediately on board if the thing wasn't so obvious... for example, "ds-forum.de - I'm doing it alone" or something icon_wink.gif - but it's probably too late for that, and dieselschrauber.de is too well-known. Something like an alias would actually be quite useful...

Hi Jan,

It was precisely this point that made me decide not to buy that incredibly cheap Seat Cordoba with a 110 hp AFN engine back then.
No one has commented on the text for the license plate holder yet. Suggestions are always welcome, and aliases/redirects on the web can be set up quickly. The text on the holder should be short and memorable, and the address on the holder should also be concise and easy to remember. TDI failure? -> www.dieselschrauber.de

Okay, so I've never really paid attention to the license plate frames when a car is parked. I might glance at the license plate of the car in front of me at a traffic light, sure, that happens. And if it's not yellow or some other color, then anything could be written on it. I don't think criminals would be attracted to them... (can they even read anyway? Just kidding). Seriously though, I would get some, and I don't think they would encourage theft.

Hi everyone,

I'm proud of my diesel and my 2.5-meter sign. But I'm not sure if I want to decorate my 'modification measures' with the name of one of the most well-known tuning forums. While 'the Greens' are often misguided, they're not all bad. If you pull someone out of a situation they're in, they'll likely get angry.

Sorry, I'd like to contribute to the forum, but not by putting something on the car. Instead, I'll happily spread the word through word-of-mouth.

I would also like to get a license plate holder, but my license plates are too short (only about 40 cm). Also, my license plate is glued on the front and directly screwed onto the metal on the back...

I would prefer a sticker. Something like a sticker for the rear window that is transparent except for the lettering. And, in my opinion, www.dieselschrauber.de would be sufficient.

Hello,

You can omit the "www." part, and it will be shorter, and the web browser will still find it.
You could also register a nice alias domain, for example, schraub-selbst.de (I haven't checked with Denic to see if it's available, but I doubt anyone will snatch it icon_lol.gif).

Hi,

Regarding the "Green Party" issue, I don't find it problematic in my case - my car is completely legal, and even the aftermarket turn signal meets the requirements that were inquired about by a member of the Octavia forum to the TÜV (I might even inquire myself again).

I would like an alias for such a license plate frame advertisement that doesn't refer to the driving principle icon_wink.gif.. and that was probably also the reason I voted to participate (I had voted "good, but I don't need it").

An alias has two sides to it.

Advantage (besides the camouflage): It appeals to EVERYONE, not just diesel enthusiasts (which is a positive thing for advertising revenue).

Disadvantage: It's not as well-known as the actual URL.

Best regards,

Jan.

'The 'tarn-domain' isn't bad. Also, perhaps the print as well. In such a case, I would be in favor of offering both labels.'
I fully and unequivocally support the 'diesel mechanics' community, including their advertising.
Even though my workplace can be dangerous at times during the week. I also don't really pay attention to the license plate holders. Besides, I don't understand your concerns about the racing regulations. What does a sign even say? It would be just like putting liquor advertisements on the license plate holders. I haven't heard of anyone checking for that or specifically looking for it.

So, I proudly show off my TDI...

Not only do people blindly believe what's written on the back, but...
They are still connecting those to slow, old computers.

Have I mentioned that it goes uphill at a 12% gradient after the road sign? Har har har.

Just put a '1.4i' sticker on your car. I bet they'll pull you over before you even reach the town sign, and then give you a long, hard stare.

I wouldn't mind having www.dieselschrauber.de on the sign.

Hi,

While the "Tarndomain" might be associated with diesel engine enthusiasts, it's also how people ultimately end up on this page.

We "Anonymi" just want to avoid making it too obvious to people that we're trying to prevent the use of diesel... if the political debate about DPFs (Diesel Particulate Filters) continues, maybe it will also help against "eco-vandalism."

Best regards,

Jan.

P.S.: An "eco-vandal" wouldn't even recognize the diesel engine, not even by looking at the tachometer...

Sure, same here, why not? I already paid for it, so what should I scrape off? icon_smile.gif

Furthermore, the driving style and the layout of the route are crucial, so that a loud, obnoxious driver in a modified car can realize what's effortlessly passing him by.

I would also be interested in a dieselschrauber.de, but not as a license plate holder, but possibly as a small sticker for the inside of the side window, saying 'from the inside.' I got rid of the license plate holder because of noise... icon_wink.gif
