Ich muß dazu aber gestehen das ich ab und zu doch mal zu den 4 Zyl. I'm looking at the PD.
'In city traffic, I actually find the engines (especially the 100 hp PD engine) quite nice. However, I definitely don't want to switch to anything else once I'm on the highway and going above 140 km/h; those 6-cylinder TDI engines are just typical highway engines.'

@marco
I agree, it runs much quieter than a PD.
But it doesn't get any faster; it only goes faster from around 150 [units/km/mph, etc.].

@all
Fuel consumption is also good; the measured average over 24,000 km is 7.5 liters per 100 km.
and I'm not driving slowly (10% highway, 70% country roads, 20% city).
110KW AKN front, 6-speed manual transmission, 205/60-15 tires, all original icon_wink.gif.

but which can become expensive.
(These are the things that were repaired or replaced under warranty/guarantee.)
- Ventildeckeldichtung, 6 Glühkerzen, Fensterheber, LMM, Fahrwerk vorne, div. Pressure hoses.
div. temperature switch, combination instrument, and tomorrow I'll pick it up again with a new turbo.
It made a grinding noise, which my friendly customer service representative also heard after I filed 4 complaints.

And the brake wear is also not insignificant, even though I hardly brake. icon_smile.gif

The stated maximum speed is based solely on the speedometer reading.

Okay, here's my comment on the subject: I myself drive a 2.5 TDI with 120kW and multitronic. So, anyone who doesn't want to be the first at the traffic light crossing won't notice any lack of power. I also used to have a 2.3E Audi 100 with an automatic transmission, and you could really talk about a 'thinking time' with that one, but not with the diesel. This one runs really well, and if you don't push it, you can achieve fuel consumption of around 6.8 to 7.5 liters per 100km. I also test drove a 130 TDI PD back then and noticed that while it accelerates quickly from a standstill, it seems a bit tired at 140 km/h. The 120kW version runs completely unspectacularly; the multitronic almost completely decouples speed and RPM, so it sometimes sounds sluggish, but in reality, it performs well. It's just important to break it in gently. I've always broken in my previous cars (both gasoline and diesel) gently and only sold them after exceeding 200,000 km, with a clear conscience, even to acquaintances.

Here are a few points from me (a former A6 4B driver):

- V6... expensive and doesn't really offer much more than the 130 PD.
(Consumption, performance, maintenance,)

- TipTronic - where is the worst part in this engine?
(Consumes performance and reduces maximum speed.)

- Quattro
(Image, consumption, without the need for a motor)

I would always prefer the 130 PD with a 6-speed gearbox. Test drive both and form your own opinion. Then, create a cost breakdown including fuel consumption and ongoing expenses (taxes, insurance, maintenance).

I'm sure you'll end up with the 130 model. And if you add a chip to it, it will be superior to a standard V6 Tiptronic in every way.

My opinion,
arne

Hello TDI enthusiasts,

I took the plunge.

2003 A6 Avant 2.5 TDI, 6-speed, front-wheel drive, 163 hp, only 20,000 km (first registration), runs great, consumes 8-8.5 liters per 100 km at a brisk pace on long distances, top speed (only briefly tested) according to the speedometer is 235 km/h icon_eek.gif.

What else needs to be done?
- Tires: They are 16-inch tires, I've had larger ones on my Golf before.
- Chassis: It already looks almost 'lifted,' let's see what other information I can gather here in a quiet moment...
- Radio Concert: At Audi, they apparently want over €700 including installation for a CD changer?? Is that even possible?? The wiring harness isn't included, and the CD changer itself costs €500. The one from my Golf (Radio Gamma) definitely won't fit due to the bus system, recognition, and other issues. icon_evil.gif

Congratulations on your new car!
I haven't regretted it so far.

Tires and suspension are purely a matter of personal preference; I'm happy with how it is now.
You should be able to find a cable changer on eBay for around 200 euros.
It worked for me, at least.
