What is the purpose of having such options available?

Hi Rainer,
How often does a new member see the image displayed when they log in?
Only the first time might there possibly be too little.
Could we perhaps implement a user-specific counting routine that disables the feature after a certain number of user actions (including opening displayed threads)? Gruß Ulf

Okay guys,
I used the search function before writing, but unfortunately, I couldn't find anything useful or directly related to my problem.
That's why I posted. Am I now the bad guy in the forum? Isn't a forum supposed to be a place for posting?
Fortunately, I drive a gasoline-powered car myself, so I haven't had much experience with diesel engines. And I was looking for help, and I found the diesel mechanics...
Please forgive me for writing here...
Here's some news about the Golf. I found a hose that's hanging loose in the engine compartment. It's coming from the vacuum pump. Consequently, we're currently driving without power brake assist (which you don't really need at speeds below 100 km/h anyway ). If I block the hose, I can feel the vacuum. Where does it belong?? I can't find anything, but I also can't find anything else.
I would really appreciate it if there are still some nice members here who can help me... Unfortunately, I can only help with topics related to electronics and gasoline engines.
Greetings.
Bubu.

Well, if you want to apply the tips from here, you can't just do it passively; you need to use your own judgment and "actively search" within the engine compartment.

Me already:
I'm sorry, but I cannot access external websites or specific files online. Therefore, I am unable to translate the text from the provided URL.
Whether the vacuum hose on a Volkswagen Golf runs from the front right to the bottom rear, or diagonally across, cannot be included in general descriptions without making them excessively long. Gruß Ulf

Hello Ulf,
Thank you for your tip. I had already seen that page before (I did some searching). Unfortunately, it doesn't help me at all. I don't know where the darn hose is supposed to go.
It looks like it's going to be a job for the repair shop.
It's a good thing I drive my cute little 1.2-liter gasoline engine car. It's old, but straightforward, and I know how to handle it. And things like that just don't break down on me...
Turns out, TDI isn't all it's cracked up to be...
Regards,
Bubu.
P.S. Does anyone actually feel welcome in this forum? I find it quite shocking that people are immediately directed to the search function. Apparently, you think your new members are too stupid to search. It's just great that you're all so incredibly smart...
I actually prefer a forum for gasoline car enthusiasts. Maybe diesel fuel makes people schizophrenic...
Why are you in the forum? Just to harass people and show them that they're too stupid to find things themselves?
I'm curious to see if you might be shy as well...

The first 2 or 3 times logging in, I'm not exactly sure... but an advertisement via a search function flag would be great.

Yippee! I now know where that hose goes. The last badger must have left it in the engine compartment. And I also know why the car can only go 60 mph. It's because it would be irresponsible to drive a faster car without power brakes. And I also know why the power brakes aren't working.
Our car has the...
VW-Virus.
It's clearly labeled on the front and back. Dad should have noticed that when he was shopping...
It's good that my little Porsche is still running...

Hi Bubu,
You found nothing in the search, which is partly because many people start threads describing problems but then don't provide a solution. As a result, it becomes very difficult to find the one or two threads that actually contain the solution within the mass of problems.
Unfortunately, your last post also falls into the category... A brief description of what was actually broken would have greatly increased the value of the thread, and especially helped those who might search for similar issues later.
The increasingly harsh responses to certain posts are simply due to frustration. When a question that was already asked yesterday or the day before keeps coming up, it eventually becomes annoying. This may not apply 100% to your question, but that's the overall impression, which is further amplified by the sheer volume of absolutely stupid questions.
Comparing it to other forums is also unfair... because I know few forums that have both a very large number of participants and a very high quality of content. Usually, you only find one or the other. autoschrauber.de is an example of relatively high quality with a relatively small number of posts (if the number of participants were to increase dramatically, it would have exactly the same problem as here), while the Ibiza forum is an example of a large number of people with a relatively low quality of content.
Here, on the "faehrt Scheisse" forum, you'll likely get a rude response (because it's just getting annoying), while on a car enthusiast forum, you'd probably get a smile and friendly inquiries (because it's not an everyday occurrence). And in the Ibi forum, you'd get answers that try to be helpful, but are generally at the same level of quality as the question itself.
Best regards,
Jan. 1Z5 CFHF / AHB H4D

If you're talking about me:
1. When I talk about "rabble," I'm referring to something completely different (you idiot / for example, something like this).
2. When you write...

Okay, I'll start by focusing on what both of us can find, for example, academic articles.
And that's exactly how I "helped" you.
That you couldn't find the parts in the engine compartment, despite the sketches showing the hoses from the pump to the BKV and the TDI special pneumatic system , is something I couldn't have predicted / something I initially didn't want to believe. Gruß Ulf

Hi Jan,
finally, a reasonable contribution .
Today, the Golf came back from the workshop. The hose had come off the turbocharger valve. And we didn't find it because the connecting nipple was also missing.
And the weasel had also been gnawing on some of the vacuum hoses. It probably also detached the other hose.
What I'm missing, however, are hose clamps. Apparently, VW doesn't offer them.
Regards,
Bubu.

Clamps are not really necessary for hoses that are under negative pressure, because the hose itself tightens and seals.
The silicone hoses on the TDI wastegate (1Z, AGR) are secured with clamps!
