Generator Set 81kW AFN

Hello everyone,

During the replacement of the viscous fan clutch, I disassembled the entire assembly (alternator, tensioner pulley for the ribbed belt, viscous fan, power steering pump) by removing four screws. Now I'm wondering where the gasket should be located between the assembly carrier and the engine block. According to the information I received from the dealer, there is no gasket in this area - is that really the case?

Depending on the "place of origin," the (especially the AFNs - Air Flow Nozzles) were installed in very different ways (e.g., Golf 4 vs. Passat 3B).

Da er was von Visco erwähnt, dürfte es sich um einen A4 oder Passat 3B handeln. ASo, it's a lengthwise installation.
To my knowledge, the Golf 4 did not have any of the older 827 TDI engines.

I still have a spare engine from a 3B lying around, but unfortunately, I haven't gotten that far yet .

..but my uncle whispers to me: "O-ring 50x4; part number 038 121 119 B (the same one as for the thermostat flange below)."

That makes sense, because that's where the standard water pump used to be mounted.

Sure, there's a gasket. It's located where the water channel connects the carrier to the engine block.
