Okay, so I ended up installing the charger myself. The Seat dealer told me they couldn't deliver it at the moment. My colleague said he would install it, and that some play is normal. If he hadn't adjusted it, I would have assumed it was normal play. So, now it's installed and working perfectly.
I took a brand new charger from the stockroom for comparison, and it had the same amount of play.
