um... I think you mean NW-Rad.

Hi Wolfi,

He replaced the fuel injection pump, and in my opinion, it's related to the ESP wheel icon_wink.gif. Some people replace the ESP without interfering with the valve timing.

When you change the ESP, are the valve timings also readjusted? Or are you one of the 'skilled' people who can do this without removing the ESP rotor? What does the injection timing indicate? Have you measured the boost pressure during operation? Is the KW screw in good condition?

Hello haehnlein,

I replaced the ESP without removing the NW wheel; I just checked the timing, and it was correct. The fuel injection timing was also okay. I also adjusted the ESP slightly (in the direction of rotation) - the engine then ran smoother, but without any effect on performance.

The boost pressure with the original ESP was approximately 0.95 bar at full load.

I haven't personally checked the KW screw yet, but from what I've read in the posts here, it seems that the valve timing always gets misaligned (even after readjustment) if the screw is defective; and that wasn't the case.

The answer about the timing belt was in response to Rainer K.'s question.

Best regards, V.

also starts immediately (at the current temperatures). I will comment again once I know more about it.

Hi TDI fan,

Okay, I wouldn't worry about compression with the LL (unless someone completely incompetent drove the car before). What about the boost pressure? Have you also replaced or checked the hoses for the intercooler control (everything that goes from the solenoid valve)?

However, the jerking and uneven running more likely indicate a defective metering unit in the ESP. icon_sad.gif

Hello,

The colleague from VAG swears by his measurement result, which indicates around 15 bar in all cylinders. Does a TDI engine still start easily (without rough idling or smoke)?
Can the compression be this unevenly bad across all cylinders?

Best regards, V.
