Hello (variants)!

To avoid getting a ticket, the following rules apply:

1. Alle Düsen auf max. Open the door.
2. Set the temperature to be no more than 4-5°C cooler than the outside temperature.
3. Rotate the middle nozzles upwards towards the ceiling. Rotate the side nozzles upwards towards the side windows.

1. Are now open!
2. What should I do when the outside temperature is 36 degrees Celsius?
3. Then, the rear of the car is heated, while the air flows past the occupants in the front.

Best regards, Uwe

2. If the temperature is 36° and you lower it to 21°, you usually get a cold. icon_smile.gif The air conditioning system shouldn't turn the car into a climate-controlled room, but only cool it down. The recommendation to stay healthy is always to set it 4-5° cooler, and no more. I admit, it's sometimes difficult to stick to that.

Okay, so if you position them facing upwards, the nozzles will blow air directly onto the ceiling (Golf III). Then, the cold air will cascade down nicely.

'And the fact that nothing comes out of the other vents when it's cooling is also happening to me. All the other vents are sealed. All the cold air comes out of the four front vents. As long as it's warmer outside than inside, all the air comes from the front. If it's colder outside than inside, the air comes from the bottom vents (heating).'

'And what exactly are the socks supposed to be smoking from? You get into a car that's at 30°C. You let the air flow out for 2 minutes and then open the windows. This way, you have cold air at the bottom. Then you close the windows and set the system to 'AUTO,' and the air comes from the top and flows downwards (where else would it go), so you always have cool feet. After all, the sun's rays don't reach the bottom.'

Perhaps the new regulation is actually bad, but we haven't read anything about it. However, I can't quite imagine that being the case.

I don't think you can influence or reprogram the AUTO program because it simply doesn't make sense.

How do you set your air conditioner to 31 degrees? Mine only goes up to 28...

Uwe

Ha, you caught me red-handed! icon_biggrin.gif

If it's 36°C, I also tend to fudge the settings a bit and set the maximum temperature.

No nonsense, but today I can already feel it in my throat that it's been so hot the past few days (around 34°C).

Hey Varianti!

What kind of vehicle do you drive?
I mentioned earlier that we have two TDIs in our family, and they have different air conditioning systems. The older one works great, while the newer one has the issue I described above.
I (and many others) set the temperature to around 22 degrees, put it on automatic, and leave it at that. My desired climate setting is logically independent of the outside temperature. After all, I'm isolated from the outside air, and the air that's supplied is tempered before it reaches the occupants. I feel most comfortable at around 22 degrees, not 28. There's no reason to increase the inside temperature because of the outside temperature. There might be a shock when getting out, but you won't catch a cold from that. You only get colds from drafts, and I constantly experience drafts with the newer climate control system, whereas with the older one, it was only for a very short time. In warm weather, the (older) system initially blows sweat off my forehead and then cools my feet, before finally bringing the entire interior to the pre-selected temperature without any drafts, thanks to the individual use of all the vents. The newer system just (dries my forehead and heats my feet), and that's what bothers me. I only catch colds in the newer vehicle! What are your experiences with this air conditioner? Do I have a defect, or are these units designed this way?

Best regards,
Uwe

I'm adding to this again:

following climatronic

1U1 907 044 A
CLIMATRONIC C2.0.0.
soft-coding: 11000

Located in a Skoda Octavia Combi 1.9 TDI (7 weeks old).

What can I adjust using soft coding?
'Are there any documents available for this? My workshop probably messed with it during the initial setup, and their WSC (Workshop Service Code) is installed (but they're not providing any information, grumble).'

Hey Gremlin,

How satisfied are you with your air conditioner? Are you also experiencing cold feet?

Best regards,
Uwe

'Uwe, I'm experiencing the same issue as you. The temperature control is fine, but the AUTO mode isn't working correctly. Whenever the system needs to cool, it only blows air through the floor vents, which is terrible. In heating mode, it distributes the air wonderfully. However, when cooling, it only blows air through the vents, and even after driving 80km, there's no improvement.'
I'll just manually set it to defrost and foot vents, and then it will be fine. I also don't get any ice buildup icon_wink.gif.

Ahhh, finally someone who understands!

I'm also not satisfied with the controls. Even in heating mode, it only works with the manual adjustments.
Are there any other "affected individuals"?

Best regards,
Uwe

It's the same everywhere.

I'm afraid I can't contribute any further to solving your problem.

@GremlinViewing profile: Gremlin!

Can you read the climate control codes from your unit (by holding down the recirculation button and pressing the "air to top" button)? This doesn't work on VW (Variant), at least not with that key combination; it seems to be a different system. If it does work, you probably have the same Climatronic system in your Skoda as in the Audi.

Best regards,
Uwe

Hey Gremlin!

"The way I read the codes is different, so it doesn't seem to be the same device that apparently works just as badly. Are there any other Audi drivers experiencing similar issues?"

Best regards,
Uwe
