Hi there,
I've recently converted my vehicle to run on alternative fuels and now consider myself a newbie in this area, but I need some help.

The engine received a new timing belt during the rebuild and runs very well when cold, with absolutely no smoke.
After a while, the smoke starts and only stops briefly from time to time during certain ventilation cycles.

I haven't had the opportunity for a diagnosis yet, and therefore I haven't been able to make any dynamic adjustments.

I now have one weekend left to get the bus roadworthy for the move, either by myself using a VAG-COM diagnostic tool or by scheduling an expensive appointment at a workshop.

A question for the experienced: Is it worth trying to adjust the saving settings myself, even though the matter seems relatively straightforward, or should I just give up on the attempt?

What possible causes could there be for the error?

Thank you.
Carsten.

Hello,

What is your oil consumption like? icon_cool.gif

The control of the injection start is described in the relevant article under "Troubleshooting & Instructions."
A diagnostic system is needed.

Best regards, Rainer.

Hi,
I'm not yet aware of the oil consumption, as it's essentially a new installation. However, the engine should be mechanically sound.

I had hoped that the excessive smoking that starts when the part gets hotter was a typical and well-known behavior associated with a specific type of failure. (Normal diesel exhaust, I think).

"Well, of course, I don't think much can be done without a diagnosis."

Regards,
Carstrn

Try searching in this forum.

I seem to recall reading somewhere that someone had problems installing a TDI engine into a T3 and, I don't want to spread misinformation, but they modified something related to the breather system for the crankshaft because oil was leaking out of it.
