I'm currently reading the MTZ magazine (special edition about the Tiguan).

...close-coupled diesel particulate filter with an upstream oxidation catalyst for maintenance-free operation. The 2.0-liter TDI CR 4V engine will also be the main topic in MTZ issue 11/2007.

Let's see what's new. They're not saying anything about the Tiguan... except that it meets the Euro-5 standard.

Buying gasoline?

Yes, that was my first thought.
Unfortunately, I'm so spoiled by the 2.0-liter gasoline engine in my Passat 35i that the 1.6-liter engine in the Caddy just doesn't excite me at all.
Currently, considering the total cost of ownership, using autogas (LPG) is undoubtedly the most economical option.
I actually prefer the 2.0L engine from the Passat (engine code AGG) to the 1.9L engine in the same car; this engine excites me every day.

Regards,
Jens.

Here's something interesting:

Are certain filter manufacturers being targeted or pressured because they do not engage in "lobbying" (i.e., pay bribes or hush money)?
It unfortunately fits perfectly with my view of politics and our society...

Sure, I will replace "Politik" with "Presse" and adjust my response accordingly. Please provide the text you would like me to translate.
It's not politics that demands the DPF (Diesel Particulate Filter), but the media that promotes this "nonsense system" Lauthals. Readers are led to believe that DPF systems are the "ultimate solution" and solve all problems related to particulate matter. Vehicles offered without a DPF are presented as "unsellable." It doesn't matter that these vehicles can sometimes produce cleaner emissions than those with a DPF. Politicians are simply following this "trend."
The press doesn't like it when only a few technicians don't want to follow this trend. That's exactly how articles like the ones you cited come about.

Bosal 17097 no longer has approval either... I'm curious to see what the tax office will send me. Can I return the filter now, since the incentive to buy it is gone... icon_smile.gif

Hi,

According to the article on Heise Auto, it stated that all discounts would continue to apply for anyone who purchased one of these devices.

http://www.heise.de/autos/artikel/s/4597/0

On the third page, just before the end.

Basically, it makes sense, because none of them actually work, and what can the customer do if the approval authority is negligent during testing?

Best regards,

Jan.

Yes, I just read that too. Well, I already thought the effect was questionable, because the thing is much smaller than the original Oxi-Kat, and it doesn't look like it has a finer mesh.

To ensure a good purchasing decision and secure an early appointment, please double-check everything!

Just a quick side note on the topic...

After the public smoking ban (meaning cigarettes, not diesel icon_wink.gif) was implemented in the first federal states, Hein Blöd (some kind of professor, a complete expert in his field) prostituted himself to a sleazy boulevard magazine on private television and went around restaurants and bars with a 'particulate matter measuring device' to illustrate to all of us how 'toxic' the particulate matter pollution is in 'smoky' establishments.

'I had to laugh out loud! Back in the late 90s, he would have pulled out an ozone meter in the pub, and in the 80s, he would have demonstrated his wild formaldehyde and tar analysis methods.'

I'm smoking much more calmly now because, with these 'fine dust cigarettes,' at least my fear of getting smoker's leg is gone.

Perhaps, in the future, my landlord or legislator will allow me to breathe in the pub thanks to a retrofitted DPF, so as not to endanger the other patrons.

Good evening.

It's hard to believe what's happening now, since the diesel particulate matter issue has been thoroughly explored. For passenger cars, everything has been exhausted: diesel has a bad image, diesel drivers have a bad environmental conscience, the tax burden and fuel consumption have been increased, as have the VAT revenues due to the additional costs of filters (purchase and maintenance). The cow has been milked.

On to the next cow!(Link)

It's interesting that it's only now that people are realizing that 'wood-burning stoves release more particulate matter into the air than all the diesel vehicles in Germany combined.'

This must be quite a culture shock, considering the prevailing and media-propagated zeitgeist, which claims that wood (pellet) heating systems are so environmentally friendly!(Link)

Mannmannmann,
Okay, don't look at everything so negatively. Just think about it objectively: if every cigarette is banned, every diesel engine has its DPF, every stove has a particulate filter, every brake creates a massive amount of abrasion (which could be patented), then we've achieved our goal! The general population has, thanks to all the regulations, moved further towards 'Hartz 4' (unemployment benefits) and private bankruptcy – we'll call it 'Hartz 8' – while a few remain wealthy. These are the politicians who don't have to pay for it themselves, and those who own the patents, along with a few bank executives who prioritize ties over everything else. They then gather in a small, pristine area in central Germany, build incredibly expensive, particulate-matter-free houses, and can breathe clean air. When they exhale, the climate calculator will go haywire, and eventually, they might build a large concrete bell over their little area. Then, they should have a big press conference to present their 'clean land.' We'll then pour concrete over it, and that's it.
Word of the day for Tuesday: *DUCK*. Good night.

Hi,

With all the back-and-forth about filters, and the fact that some filters don't actually filter, there wasn't really a reasonable solution to the problem, or a way to deal with those non-filtering filters.

Just on the way home, they announced a new decision from the Federal Environment Agency. The filters that are affected by the poor performance will be exchanged for better-performing ones free of charge, but this can only be done at the workshop that installed them. Ultimately, this involves a lot of running around for those affected, and those who installed them themselves will have to do it again, and it's not clear how easy it will be to exchange them icon_question.gif.

I'm just curious to see when the first lawsuits against the manufacturers will be filed. icon_cool.gif

Actually, there should be a lawsuit against the relevant licensing authority. Remember the texts that were posted here about these filters – it was quite clear from them that they couldn't possibly work. Anyone who approves something like that should be able to see that. In only one case is the manufacturer accused of cheating – from that, I interpret that the others submitted the exact same filter models for approval.

By the way, I'm seriously considering contacting the relevant office in Berlin that deals with this matter and asking where I can get a retrofit filter for my car (there isn't one, and probably won't be... there were never many 6Ks with ASV) or, alternatively, an exemption for the time when yellow stickers are prohibited. In 2001, it wasn't clear that a Golf 4 with ASV would still be allowed to drive in the city center 10 years later, whereas an Ibiza with the same engine would not.

Best regards,

Jan.

According to DUH, the public prosecutor's office in Essen is even investigating GAT on suspicion of forgery.

Hello everyone,

Unfortunately, I don't have the Bosal email here right now, but I can attach it when I get home.
There, in response to my concerned inquiry (since I am one of the trusting customers icon_smile.gif), they wrote that I shouldn't be afraid, that I could either keep my filter and everything would be fine, or that Bosal would offer me a new one, which is currently being approved, in exchange for mine. I'm curious to see what will happen.

I have installed GAT DPFs on two customers' vehicles.
Upon request, please wait until after January. We are working hard on a new generation of DPF filters. For security reasons, please fax a copy of your vehicle registration and the invoice.
According to Stahlgruber, the situation remains...
to receive the tax classification applicable to particulate filters (DPFs) that are installed and registered.
For installed parts that are not yet registered, we will wait until registration-eligible parts are available and then install them for the customer free of charge.
