I wouldn't have thought there would be so much discussion about this.

It might not be a bad idea to repurpose the EGR valve for control purposes, but I don't think it's necessary.

"Contrary to what some might suggest, there shouldn't be any dirt accumulating in the charge air system."
Where is it supposed to come from? As long as you haven't installed a fake K&N air filter, everything should be clean, right?
If in doubt, you can also direct the oil into a separate container.

Ah yes, maybe the idea is already old.
I happened to be standing next to an Audi 100/A6 today with a AAT engine. It had a hose connected at the bottom of the intercooler.
I simply didn't have time to see where he was going.

Somewhere on this page, you can find hose diagrams.
In my AAT system, the issue is likely related to either the boost control valve or the boost pressure sensor. It's definitely not a problem with the oil return system.

Hey everyone,

Thank you very much for your numerous opinions.
I have now ordered an oil separator with an integrated pressure regulating valve from MAN-Hummel. This separator was originally installed by VW in the 1.9 TDI industrial engines. It separates the oil using a cyclone system and is simply inserted into the ventilation line between the engine block and the intake manifold. Additionally, there is an oil return line back to the oil pan, which isn't a problem for me as I have a free connection point available. According to the MAN-Hummel datasheet, the oil separation efficiency is at least 80%. Once I receive the part, I will post more details.

Regards,
Jens.

These cyclone separators are supposed to be really good!

A friend installed a cyclone oil separator from a 132kW V6 TDI engine onto his 110kW engine.

Very satisfied!

Please provide more details. What will it cost? Will the pressure regulating valve on top of the cylinder head be replaced?

Regards,

Manuel.
