Hello Rainer,
I wanted to send you this link: https://community.dieselschrauber.org/en/viewtopic.php?t=30607
"Do you see this user's profile? He has a Q7 with the engine code ASB, which also means 233 hp. That shouldn't make a difference to mine. You can clearly see his target air mass is 1198.50mg/H and his target boost pressure is 2295mbar. Shouldn't I have the same target values? Or is the engine fundamentally different?"
My target boost pressure is 2488.80 mbar.
I cannot view the air mass data for my car, but if it's like with an ASB engine, then there is enough of it.

Hello,
You can only compare identical operating points (speed, load) in engines of the same design. However, if one engine is running at 4000 rpm with full throttle and producing 1.3 bar of boost pressure, while yours is producing 1.5 bar, that's already suspicious.
It would prompt me to check if the software in the engine control unit is genuine.
The key issue is always the history, which no reader—and certainly not I—can know, and which usually has to be painstakingly pieced together from limited information. A classic example is concealing modifications or tuning work that has been done.
Best regards, Rainer.

I will take a closer look at the synchronization angle.
Attached is the order document indicating where the MSTG was flashed.
Regarding the wiring harness, which one are you referring to?
Greetings | .
Hello Rainer,
As previously described, I had the engine control unit reflashed using ODIS software. So, everything should be back to its original state. Here's a quote from a user in another forum: "Mine, with the map optimization, has 200 mbar more!"
Was has been changed in the engine control unit (ECU) that results in a higher target boost pressure being indicated?
Do you know the YouTube channel "MR.DOiT"? He tested a Q7 with a 3.0 TDI engine using VCDS, and he mentions a turbocharger pressure value of 2488.80 mbar. Hmm.
Anyway, other functions are working again, such as temperature sensors, differential pressure sensors, and ash content measurement.
He probably did something and deactivated the DPF, which likely caused it to fail due to increased power output.
"I can only speak from experience with the 225 and 233 hp models. According to the pressure sensor readings, the boost pressure is 2295 mbar absolute, which translates to 1.295 bar. In reality, it reaches 2315 mbar, with occasional spikes up to 2350 mbar."
"It's probably because my car has too much boost pressure. When the performance drops and I keep pressing the accelerator, the P0299 error code appears after about 5-6 seconds."
"It's logical because the setpoint remains high, as you can see in the logs that it's running at full throttle, but the actual value decreases because power is being reduced. This makes the system recognize that the regulation limit has been exceeded."
What do you think about that?

Hello.
Quote: | | What do you think about that? |
Just say that the thing is/was tuned.
The relevant question is: Does the error still occur with the original engine control unit software?
If the problem persists and the error hasn't been found, then something must have gone wrong during the tuning process.
Best regards, Rainer.

Hello Rainer,
As I wrote, I didn't know what was happening.
No information from the previous owner.
There were 5 parameters that remained constant: temperature sensors (Kat and DPF), always showing -5.9°C, and the differential pressure sensor, which consistently read 0 mbar.
The ash content and mass were always 30.
It made me suspicious after the DPF replacement and sensor replacements, as the problem persisted.
Only after I reflashed the system did everything start working correctly, and the error messages related to the DPF (Diesel Particulate Filter), such as "overload," disappeared.
All parameters are now plausible.
Now the question is: Was it a software issue, a damaged control unit, or something else?
What else can be done besides flashing the software? Would it require sending the control unit for repair or replacement?
Best regards,

Yes, everything is working now.
What else could it be...?
Have you had any experiences with third-party turbochargers regarding problems encountered during use, etc.?
If it's not the turbocharger, then what is it?
I checked various sensors for current flow, etc., and I examined every cable that I could see.

Hello Rainer,
I've also noticed something else. When reading the data with VCDS and looking at the document related to the reflashing process, it shows which data the engine control unit (ECU) contains.
EDC17G104AG
Version 0040
VW/Audi Part No. 3D0907401F
Hardware Part Number: 3D0907401D
Encoding: 04 06 00 0C 19 1F 09 60
Now, when I enter the part number or hardware number online, it always shows "EDC17CP04". Is that a Bosch part number?
Does that mean I installed the wrong control unit?
Ask Volkswagen tomorrow what the correct part number should be according to my VIN.

Hello Rainer,
Okay, I removed the control unit as shown in the photo.
It says "EDC17CP04".
When reading the data with a diagnostic tool, it shows "EDC17G104AG".
According to a tuner, the Phaeton with 233 horsepower should have an EDC16 engine control unit.
Or the previous owner may have installed a newer engine control unit (ECU) version due to tuning modifications.
It's also possible that someone at Volkswagen changed it back then due to the emissions scandal, perhaps updating it to a newer version or something like that. What do you think?
Best regards,

Yes, I saw that before, but it doesn't matter if he changes it now.
According to VW, part number 3D0907401D should be installed, but I have 3D0907401F. Are they identical? Both have "EDC17CP04" printed on them, except for the "D" version, which has "CARA" printed in the upper right corner.
Both part numbers are listed on the label: 3D0907401D and 3D0907401F. Please see the photo beforehand. The larger part number on the control unit is the part number. The other one is the hardware number.
As mentioned before, the ECU has "EDC17CP04" written on it, but when reading its data, it shows "EDC17G104AG".
I was browsing online and found someone else having a problem with a Touareg, and they checked the engine control unit (ECU) data, as shown in the photo. The ECU is for a motor with 176 kW (240 hp) and has the code EDC17G104AG.
Could it be that software has been modified or overwritten? Is it possible that reflashing won't fix the issue?

Hello everyone.
I explained this to Volkswagen. A software update, etc., costs 200 Swiss Francs.
According to Volkswagen, there are no current updates or later versions that would require an update.
If they don't see anything that can be improved or updated, they should review the code and leave it as is.
Und trotzdem 200fr. Cost expenditure.
Furthermore, I went to PP-PERFORMANCE to have them install a calibration file, but the strange thing is that every time, either the communication or identification failed.
I've tried everything. I installed an EDC17CP04, but they used an EDC16CP34 instead, and then it wouldn't let me reset or modify anything.
It's not certain whether all types of control units in the Audi A6 4F, Touareg 7L, or Audi Q7 have been tested with Bosch software, and if they have, it seems that some things didn't work as expected, which is quite strange.
Apparently, my control unit is newer than the wiring harness with the K-CAN. I think it worked somehow, but not as it should.
He suggested removing the control unit, connecting it directly, booting it up, and either modifying it or loading a stock file onto it.
Okay, so it turned out that the control unit had to be opened and data had to be read directly from the circuit board. I decided to leave it at that, as the cost would have been 850 Swiss Francs.

Okay, I've reconnected everything and started the car again. I had removed the control unit (ECU) and disconnected it for at least 30 minutes. I simply reinstalled it and checked with a diagnostic tool to see what's going on.
After reading the VIN, a VW software update appeared...?
"Driven it later in 3rd gear, the power drop was normal as always. The second time, the same thing happened, but I kept my foot on the accelerator a bit longer, even though the power dropped. As I mentioned before, sometimes after the power drop, the car vibrates/shudders and then recovers."
Now, I tried again, and lo and behold, an error message appeared.
"The code that's now showing is P0087, which indicates a low fuel rail/system pressure. This code hasn't appeared before; for the past 7 months since I've owned the car, it has only shown the P0299 code."
After this run, I stood still for at least 5 minutes while the engine was running and the error code was cleared. Then I got back on the highway, shifted into 3rd gear, and everything seemed fine. Suddenly, when I shifted into 4th gear, it happened again shortly after, so I took my foot off the accelerator. I'm completely baffled.
Okay, I thought I'd try again, but the performance keeps dropping, and it's always showing the same error code: P0299.
Either I just triggered the P0087 code or it's a related issue, or there's actually a problem there.
I tested it five times and tried to reproduce the error code P0087 again, but I wasn't able to.

"So far, all parameters are working correctly and show nothing illogical. Reflashing the software using ODIS should fix everything, or would it be better to go to a VW dealership and have them install the correct original software to be 100% sure?"
I'm going to have to fix the coolant leak in either the EGR cooler or the oil cooler anyway.
"The intake manifold modules need to be removed, which is a good opportunity for me to check the swirl flaps; I haven't looked at them yet. In March, the right-hand intake manifold module was replaced, and the connection to the EGR cooler was repaired, along with replacing the temperature regulator for the EGR cooler."
