Hello everyone,
Can anyone tell me how to find the pinout diagram for the engine control unit (ECU)? It's no longer available in Erwin. I have all the other documentation, but neither the ECU diagrams nor the wiring schematics show any markings for the pins.
By the way, modules J519 (Body Control Module) and J120 (Engine Control Unit coolant level warning) were faulty (short to ground). After replacing them, the car now runs electrically. The internal combustion engine still won't start. The only remaining error is...
10790 - Control unit data implausible.

Hi Bo,
When I search for the VAG part number, I find images of Bosch MED 17.1.21 on the web.
For this purpose, there are also pinouts available for flashing (power supply, CAN).
Unfortunately, this is very basic. I've found something else, but my registration needs to be "approved" first.
Best regards, Rainer.

Crazy. Wasn't that standard for decades?
I was just looking at the documentation for the 2014 Seat I recently worked on and my 2012 A6 that I recently sold. In the wiring diagrams, all the pins were labeled before. Now, they are all missing EXCEPT for the ones related to the engine control unit (ECU). Even for the high-voltage battery module and the vehicle's electrical system, you can see every pin. But not for the ECU. I don't understand it anymore. 2012 Nissan Pathfinder R51 2.5 dci (Tun. 225 PS)

Please do not include any excerpts from repair manuals, even partial ones, as you know why.

Okay. It was just an example, even without any visible context, but I understand you!

It surprises me.
Here's the wiring diagram for a 2018 Golf TDI, and when I search for "engine control unit," it initially shows J623 and its corresponding 94-pin connector T94, spread across multiple images. The same applies to the A4 TDI. However, given the structure of this 2000-page document, there are no overall diagrams or lists showing the pin assignments for each control unit (STG).

I had posted screenshots that showed it, but they understandably had to be deleted.
It's actually nowhere to be found. The document includes the two large connectors with a pinout diagram. However, the table that usually accompanies these diagrams for all other connectors is missing for the MSG connector.
Similar to the wiring diagrams. On each control unit, next to the connection terminal of a signal, you'll find something like "a37" or "b12", but on the MSG there is nothing! 2012 Nissan Pathfinder R51 2.5 dci (Tun. 225 PS)

Without paying, I can only view the table of contents. It says: "Passat 2011 -> Wiring diagram, basic equipment from August 14 -> Repair group 71 (1.4 l gasoline engine CUKC - is that the engine?)."

I'm using the Erwin (siehe Fehlerdatenbank) service with a subscription plan, but I can't seem to get anything working or receive any credit.
According to the document you mentioned, the Screenshot lacks any signal labels. There is also a vehicle-specific wiring diagram, including the high-voltage components, and it doesn't have any pin designations either. 2012 Nissan Pathfinder R51 2.5 dci (Tun. 225 PS)

Hi there,
It would be interesting to see how a workshop searches for cable faults. Even with a test box (like the VAG1598?), you'll probably need the contact number.

To wrap up this topic, here's a tip I received from an eating disorder clinic.
What I experienced doesn't seem to be as unusual as I thought, especially in hybrid vehicles without a 12V alternator where the high-voltage and 12V systems are combined in the charger.
When replacing the battery in vehicles like these VW/Audi hybrids, the following procedure is recommended in addition to the known regulations:
Before disconnecting the negative terminal of the old battery, you should:
1. The high-voltage system should be disconnected by pulling and locking the maintenance disconnect plug (TW) in the engine compartment.
2. All car keys registered to the vehicle should be placed as far away from the vehicle as possible.
The explanation of exactly what causes control units to fail wasn't clear to me; it was just stated that it happens occasionally. So, I'm sharing this advice here.
Best regards and have a pleasant evening.
