Well, that won't help much now... but you could at least try to fix it... we're all open to criticism, after all.

Hello Ulf, Hello Matthias,
I apologize for the confusion and would like to clarify things.
I would be more grateful for helpful communication and contributions on the topic (as mentioned at the very beginning, it was about experiences switching from a TDI to a TSI engine, or vice versa, or even a comparison, including pros and cons, but based on real experiences, not theoretical speculation, and only from former TDI/TSI owners or people who have driven both). I'm not trying to cause trouble, but I'll keep trying.

The previous posts, and I'm speaking on behalf of both Ulf and myself (Matthias), were meant to be funny. It was all just for fun. You don't need to apologize, neither to me nor to Ulf.
I remain with the best wishes for a valuable exchange of information, and may your expectations be fulfilled!

You could say that I consume approximately 6.7 liters of gasoline at an average speed of around 70 km/h.
I usually drive on the Autobahn at speeds between 110 km/h and 140 km/h. |
Perhaps, with Maxx's help, we can create a reliable comparison for Thomas between TDI and TSI engines, specifically the fuel consumption in the maximum speed range, which can be read on the MFA as a current value.
The ASZ-G4 with ERF consumes fuel at its maximum speed in 6th gear. Fuel consumption in standard driving conditions is approximately 13 liters per 100 kilometers.
With a tuning output of 160 horsepower (which is "almost" comparable to the 170 horsepower TSI), the fuel consumption is approximately 16 liters per 100 kilometers.
Now, Maxx should, during the next high-speed driving session above approximately 180 km/h, read the instantaneous value from his MFA (Multi-Function Display) while using full throttle (!) Gruß Ulf

Hello Ulf,
Yes, that's a very good idea. That's exactly what I'd be interested in. Ideally, it wouldn't just be a single data point (full throttle), but a graph with the constant speed driven (from 5 km/h to a maximum) on the x-axis and the instantaneous consumption on the y-axis, say with a step size of 5 km/h, under as similar conditions as possible (weather - no headwind or tailwind, flat road, same vehicle, etc.).
I usually drive my ASZ/ERF quickly on the highway whenever possible, a habit I developed with my TDI, and I'll probably try to break that habit again, although for reasons other than fuel consumption.
Unfortunately, it's difficult to expect that from a Maxx driver or any other TSI driver, and speeds of 5, 10, 20, 30, 40, 50, 60, 70, etc. are dangerous, especially on the highway and usually elsewhere as well .
I could even build the ASZ/ERF curve with a G4 variant myself (I've never done that before, but maybe someone else has), ideally without any auxiliary components (like air conditioning or any electrical devices).
Once I have my G+ TSI140, I'd be happy to share this data if anyone else is interested. Comparisons of this type are not easy due to the many different influencing factors, but it would provide a general idea of the increased fuel consumption of the TSI engine, depending on the speed at which it's driven. Just as I expect significant increased fuel consumption at high speeds, I expect little increased fuel consumption with environmentally friendly and energy-saving driving, which I typically use when not on the highway.
I find this very useful; perhaps Maxx or someone else might be willing to put in the effort.

Thomas. Golf Plus TSI 140, ohne DSG, BMY/JXP

Since Maxx apparently lives in Austria, speeds like 180 km/h are more likely to be an exception .

So, I should be able to read the instantaneous power consumption at full throttle above 180 km/h next week on the highway (in Austria, the speed limit is 130 km/h ).
The concept of the consumption curve becomes a bit more complicated.
A log file obtained via OBD would be ideal.
Unfortunately, I do not possess a CAN interface .

'The Brussels authority will set a limit of 130 grams of carbon dioxide (CO2) per kilometer as an average for the EU vehicle fleet in its strategy paper.' 'A complete sales ban for cars that emit more than 200 grams of CO2 per kilometer is being discussed.'
The TSI engine will not be able to gain widespread acceptance because its CO2 emissions are too high. The same applies to other gasoline engines (e.g., the CO2 emissions of a 150 HP FSI engine are 197 g/km). We will likely continue to focus on TDI concepts (e.g., BlueMotion Polo) or hybrid technology (Honda/Toyota).

Hello Maxx,
I wouldn't do it (in Austria). The trouble you could get into is definitely greater than the benefit of doing it. It's better to wait until you're in Germany. By then, I might also be able to say something about the younger brother; that might be interesting.
(by the way: I think you might have a DSG? For the 6-speed 02S, the only code letters are JAU, JCQ, and JYG for the 125kW TSI engine. This is interesting to me because I want to know if the transmissions are the same in the TSIs; the 02S (MQ250) transmissions probably are, but with different code letters. And: I don't know if this is relevant to you, but as of yesterday, the heated seat option is available in the configurator, I'm not kidding!)
How is it possible that, according to VW's consumption figures, the DSG transmission consumes more fuel in urban driving and less fuel in highway driving compared to a 6-speed manual transmission? I can't understand it.
@pc2
No one knows what will happen regarding this. The topic is pollutants in general, not just CO2. I heard something yesterday about a proposal to completely abolish vehicle taxes in order to make gasoline more expensive. I don't think it's entirely without logic...
And if it turns out to be the way you say it will, we'll just install a CO2 filter on the gasoline engine, it's that simple.

If it were actually that simple, why haven't the manufacturers been doing it for a long time?

Hello Thomas,
Sometimes I also drive faster than 130 km/h.
I have a section of my commute, about three lanes wide, that's slightly uphill.
I've driven up to 200 kilometers per hour there before.
There needs to be a bit of excitement (of course, with very watchful eyes -> civilian patrol).
Yes, I have DSG with the GKB JPS in the car.
<OT>
In Austria (.at), the SH (likely referring to a specific product or feature) is not yet included in the configurator.
I wouldn't have wanted to wait from October to March for the TSI either.
Unfortunately, controlling the Climatronic system isn't as straightforward (thankfully for CAN).
But I'm going to build a "small" circuit for the CAN bus.
Now I need to set the temperature to "HI" and direct the airflow to the windshield.
That's exactly what needs to be done before turning off the ignition, and what I – unsurprisingly – often forget.
Then only lukewarm air blows into the interior, which is not sufficient to defrost the windows.
The engine is at least nicely warm.

Hello Matthias,
The thing about the CO2 filter should be funny. It wasn't meant to be taken seriously. You can only reduce CO2 emissions by consuming less (which is what VW does with its BlueMotion models). However, and this is no joke, Italian scientists have actually created fuel from CO2, you just need to put energy into it. We want the opposite in combustion engines, that's why it doesn't work that way. Neither in gasoline engines nor in diesel engines.

You can only test that on a dynamometer. In natural environments, factors like gusts of wind, varying road surfaces, subtle inclines and declines, and moisture can all contribute to a significant variation in speed, even when maintaining a single gear.
While I don't have a GRA (presumably referring to a specific type of vehicle or system), anyone who observes the instantaneous fuel consumption over, say, 5 km while driving a GRA-equipped vehicle on a flat section of the highway will understand what I mean... not to mention the speed ranges in which you can drive in different gears. If you want to measure all of those combinations, you'll never finish.
Therefore, for comparing different engines, I use the three values of the standard consumption (on a dynamometer, the power profiles achieved by cars of the same weight class are quite similar), and then I also include a simply defined load point in the fun-to-drive range, namely full throttle at approximately 90 to 100% of the maximum speed.
These 4 values describe the consumption trends of various engines quite well, while maintaining a pleasantly low overall cost. Gruß Ulf
