Yes, I have to admit that it has its pros and cons.
Regarding the constant need to refill, that also bothered me. That's why I built a large tank. The original 1.7L tank was a joke...
I'm doing very well with it. I completely refill it 2-3 times a month. Since there's a level indicator, I don't experience any surprises. And if you're ever in a pinch and run out of liquid, you can simply use water.
Okay, here's another testimonial from the summer season...
Situation on the highway: driving quickly, then suddenly a traffic jam... (Outside temperature approx. 30°C). At first, I thought my engine's auxiliary fan was broken. It didn't turn on for 10-15 minutes. Then, more frequently due to the stop-and-go traffic.
A few days later, I experienced a similar stop-and-go situation, but this time without the WAES (I had a problem with the fuel tank). The fan immediately turned on, and the intervals for the air intake were longer. From this, I conclude that the engine was, overall, hotter than with WAES, especially since the average fuel consumption increased to 8.5.
Conclusion: In my opinion, active cooling is beneficial for the engine, especially during the summer months.
