Because customers are looking for a cost-effective DPF oil solution that is cheaper than LL3 and that doesn't require LL service intervals?

What's the point if the car repair shop buys the standard oil 507.00 in bulk at a cheap price and doesn't offer 505.01?
"Actually, LL3 oils aren't that expensive. Online prices are only 2-3 euros per liter more for LL3."
It's probably a matter of personal preference, but I'm glad there's now a 5W-40 oil available specifically for DPFs (505.01).

I'm not interested because I'm doing the change myself. And the new Ravenol is now available in the program icon_idea.gif.
10 euros to 6 euros per liter at the price you linked.

*warm-up*

Approximately one year and two weeks ago, I filled the BUK (presumably a fuel tank) with 507.00 liters of Mobil ESP fuel, just to be on the safe side.
Since then, the fuel gauge hasn't shown any significant consumption, but my overall annual fuel consumption of approximately 4.7 liters per 100 km also indicates that the engine is mostly driven gently.

Furthermore, I only drove about 8,000 kilometers that year, and according to the fixed-interval time criterion, the oil should be changed now – after only half the usual mileage for a fixed-interval change.
How foolish or sensible would this change be right now?

"Specifically, which time-dependent degradation processes in a WIV oil could damage the engine if I plan to change it around the upcoming summer, with an estimated mileage of 13,000 km (since the last change)?"
Gruß Ulf

ulf,
You know best yourself, but even 8,000 km of short trips can push a conventional motor oil to its limits.
8,000 km of highway driving at 140 km/h during a continuous nighttime journey, and the oil is "as good as new" icon_smile.gif.
Then you have the two extremes.
Want to be on the safe side? Get an oil check, or just replace it altogether.

Hi Ulf, I can't understand you. On the one hand, you're putting in relatively expensive 50700 oil (which your BUK doesn't even need), and on the other hand, you're asking when you should change it. You should be able to decide that for yourself.
I use LM TopTec 4100 5W40 in my ARL engine, and I buy 5 liters from Stahlgruber for €34.80.
It doesn't hurt as much when you switch. My approach: after 1 year, get rid of it, no matter what's inside.

According to the Seat oil specification (confirmed by workshop documents), both the BUK and BPX actually need it:?.

Okay, so I was wrong. That, of course, increases the costs. But as you probably know, the additives that stabilize the oil under heat degrade over time and with prolonged use. So, I wouldn't risk anything.

Hello Ulf, generally speaking, when someone has a "bad feeling" about something or someone, it's difficult to offer them much advice because that "bad feeling" often persists anyway.
If I put a sealant on a spot where someone is asking if a small crack in the glass can be repaired, they'll just keep looking at it until they finally get a new windshield installed somewhere else. So, I could have installed it myself!
Based purely on economic and practical considerations, I would say: leave the oil in until 15,000 km.
I'm telling you: find a way to get it done, secure a cost-effective oil source for the LL3, or if possible, change the 50501 filter annually. Then you'll have done something good and you can sleep soundly.
If it's for short distances, definitely.
And definitely with a performance boost.

I see it that way too!

My AXR is still getting the 50700, because I can get it cheaper than the 50501 or 50600. And that's despite having a fixed rate for two years.

I'm supposed to pay for that too... but it would be way too expensive for me. I'd rather pay less for the 50700.

I should also have to pay for that... but it would be much too expensive for me. I pay less for the 50700.
And I'm already quite happy to pay 507.00 for 12€/liter (Mobil ESP) from the barrel of our village workshop. icon_evil.gif

Wow, that's almost extortion (not to mention the completely Very Worthless prices).

I just came from my parts dealer and paid 53.96 Euros... for 5 liters of 50700 plus 5 liters of 10W40 (13.36... that's all the Forester needs icon_rolleyes.gif)... and that's already expensive for me. My usual "oil source" isn't available icon_wink.gif.

That would almost make it worthwhile to send you a 5-liter canister...

Normally, there are no more price differences.
Branded oil, 505.01 specification, older standard, without ACEA C3, approximately 5-7 euros per liter.
Branded oil, 505.01 specification, C3 standard, suitable for DPF, approximately 6-10 Euros.
Branded oil, 507.00, approximately 6-10 Euros.

What bothers me personally about the Mobil 1 ESP is that it simultaneously meets the C2 and C3 standards, as well as the A3 and A5 standards.
It's a bit contradictory, but apparently the reduced HTHS viscosity is working well.
Shell also has a "miracle oil" like that now. icon_wink.gif

The TBN (Total Base Number) should be monitored in the used oil. Low-ash oils are already relatively poor in this regard. Therefore, the oil change interval has been reduced from 50,000 to 30,000 miles because the oil can become too acidic, which can damage the seals, if it remains in the engine for too long.

It remains questionable whether hardware stores/supermarkets also serve as a benchmark for prices.
With a standard 15W-40 oil, yes... but with a 5W-30 oil that meets the 504/507.00 specifications, you'll definitely be charged more.
507.00 Oils on the internet.
Castrol SLX Powerflow LL3, approximately 8 euros per liter plus shipping. The total price for 5 liters is about 45 euros.
Fuchs Titan GT1 PRO C3 5W-30
Total price for 5L: approximately 45 Euros.
Fuchs Titan GT1 Longlife III 5W-30
Total price for 5L: approximately 45 Euros.
Mobil 1 ESP Formula 5W-30
Total price for a 5L container: approximately 40 Euros.
Shell Helix Ultra AV- L 5W30
Total price for 5L: approximately 40 Euros.

505.01 Oils
Castrol EDGE Turbo Diesel 5W-40 engine oil, 5L, approximately 42 euros.
Shell Helix Diesel Plus VA 5W-30, approximately 35 euros for a 5-liter container.
Mobil 1 Super 3000 XE 5W-30, approximately 30 Euros for 5 liters.

When I see the prices at the gas station for diesel, it will soon be cheaper to run your car on motor oil... But I believe there are hardly any differences anymore between the 507.00 and 505.01 specifications. There are 505.01 oils with the MB 229.31/229.51 approval and the BMW LL04 standard.
The older 505.01 oils without the C3 specification are just a bit cheaper.
Advantages of 505.01: There are still some manufacturers that offer 5W-40 oils that meet the C3 specification.
Stick to the motto: For all engines without a Qg1 designation and those manufactured before 2004, 5W-40 is the better choice.

Didn't I offer you the 50700 product for a price of 39.- or even 35.- per canister in a bulk purchase before?
Now I also have one that covers the 50700 and meets the MB 229.31 + 229.51 specifications.
