@Rainer: I have to disagree with you – apart from the fuel injector replacement, we had several sluggish TDIs that, although they hadn't had any errors in the memory, still had the fuel injectors reaching their limit at full load + high RPM.
Early adjustment to the tolerance limit also resulted in a significantly improved response in the lower and middle load ranges.
I'm not entirely clear on why the manufacturer chose such a "flexible" rule characteristic with tolerant error margins. Perhaps to prevent oscillations in the control loop, and thus jerking and emergency shutdowns
