Hello,
I somehow lost track of this topic, but I'm reading your further posts with great interest.
Regarding the origin of the engine:
The engine comes from a Bora Highline, which was sold by VW to the company Ret. as a test vehicle. Allegedly, there is a contractual collaboration between VW and ....
These vehicles can only be sold in parts.
I purchased the engine and related components, transmission, wiring harness, drive shafts, linkage, turbocharging system, and exhaust system from that specific Bora and installed them in my Golf 3.
That's the background story.
Right now, I'm reassembling the engine again. Here's what I've done so far (all done by myself):
- PDE swapped.
- Valves re-lapped.
- Replaced valve stem seals (why aren't these guides available as a replacement part???)
- Spark plug from the 3rd cylinder replaced.
- Piston rings/oil scraper ring replaced on the 4th cylinder.
- Cylinder head meticulously cleaned.
- Turbocharger replaced with a GT 17/20 hybrid turbocharger.
- All expansion bolts replaced.
- Head gasket replaced.
- Tandem pump resealed.
- WAPU is being replaced.
- Replaced the timing belt, tensioner pulley, and idler pulley.
- Oil (5w-40) / Oil filter replaced. Coolant replaced.
- LL System (including LLK) completely cleaned (something nasty came out!!!)
Now, all that's missing are the two adapter hoses for the hybrid charger, and then I can get started again. I'll keep you updated, and I think it will be ready next week. Fährt mit Golf 3 TDI Umbau (von AFN auf ARL) |
