Why are you hesitant about updating to a newer software version? Usually, it improves performance and stability rather than making things worse. Let your current state be backed up, then load and test a newer version, and if necessary, you can restore your current state.

You could check the PDE settings, but if they are misconfigured, it would be a very unusual error.

How was it again with the AGR? Is it already closed off with a | metal plate:roll: at your place?
Hello Zak1976,
I just went to the workshop and had them "carry out" your suggestions.
- The software status is "current" (according to...). There is no update available for the workshop.
- A "guided diagnosis" of the engine and MSTG data was performed (no abnormalities; as you already mentioned).
- The PDE (Pressure Drop Equations) were checked (only "electrically"; the technician mentioned something about complex calculations using the obtained PDE data, and that the result was positive; whatever that means?! ) and are okay (regarding my concerns about the deviation in the MWB 13 cylinder 4, I was told that these concerns were unfounded).
- The workshop apparently reached approximately 225 km/h with my car! (VW is probably "off the hook" now; I will test it myself again ).
The AGR valve is not blocked; it probably doesn't need to be, as the intake manifold, the catalytic converter pipes, and the fins of the oil cooler look "new" from the inside (you can still see bare metal inside the manifold and oil cooler).
AND THE BEST PART: I DIDN'T PAY ANYTHING FOR IT!!!!!
The master said: "Before we start anything 'big' there because of the missing 10 km/h (because I said my last car achieved 235 km/h), and it probably won't achieve anything except unnecessary costs, and everything else is fine (from VW's side ), let's just leave it as it is, and you don't need to pay anything!"

It certainly seems like it used to be a nice workshop.
Regarding the PDE (presumably a piece of equipment), unfortunately, the MSG (likely a monitoring system) only captures electrical measurements; mechanical malfunctions are difficult to detect there (e.g., worn O-rings, incorrect pre-tension). You might also want to check your camshaft. Are there any visible or even palpable signs of wear on the lobes? This could indicate a poorer cylinder filling and, consequently, a loss of power.
Could you please check your software version? It's possible the workshop made a mistake and there's a newer version available. Fährt mit Golf 3 TDI Umbau (von AFN auf ARL) |

Hello Zak1976,
I had already written the following to Ulf:
Quote: | Hello Ulf!
The data set for my MSG is 038 906 019 HH.
Here's another Screenshot from VAGCOM:
|
Ulf then wrote the following:
Quote: | That is the part number, and it is also listed in the log.
I meant the complete software (i.e., what chip tuners modify), and that kind of thing can only be obtained from "special sources". |
I can't tell you my SW status, unless you know another way!
When I have more time again, I will take your advice about the NW (negative valve overlap) and also try to see if it makes a difference if I determine the OT (optimal timing) using the mark on the flywheel and adjust the valve timing accordingly.

Yes: the data status is visible in the link -> 1578 .
The datasethttp://www.mark-steyding.homepage.t-online.de/2MSG-Daten.JPG is the complete "program" with all the characteristic fields, etc., and its version number represents the data version. Gruß Ulf

According to the VW Elsa program, there is a technical problem (TPL) related to a gradual loss of power caused by a clogged filter in the air intake system. This filter was installed in Nordic countries and, mistakenly, also on the German market. Therefore, check if a filter is installed; if so, remove it.

Hello.

Hello pa-mm6!
Okay, in my case, the entire intake area is without a filter (I had disassembled everything).
Or are you referring to the "filter" directly at the mass flow meter?
As far as I understand from what I've read, this is only intended to ensure that the airflow entering the system always hits the built-in sensor from the same direction, so that fluctuations in the airflow don't distort the measurement result.
You could give me the part number sometime, then I can compare them.

Hello everyone,
I have temporarily decided not to make any further tests or adjustments to the engine, as I am currently able to live with the "problem" quite well.
The fuel consumption, acceleration, and even the top speed have improved slightly.
- Approximately 0.3 liters per 100 kilometers less fuel consumption.
- according to the "Popo-Meter" , a few milliseconds better and longer acceleration (up to 190 km/h in 6th gear). Smooth operation without performance loss.
- Top speed is now approximately 220 km/h.
Here are some more answers to some questions:

Did you tighten all the screws with the correct torque, or could something have been misaligned?
|
I've checked it again, and nothing has changed for the past several hundred kilometers.
Zak1976 wrote: |
"I'd like to take the time to remove the valve cover."
....If you find any scratches or wear marks on the ball joint and its corresponding counterpart at the top of the PDE (Power Distribution Element), you need to replace both. However, after replacing them, the PDE will need to be re-adjusted using the adjustment screw (but that's not a big deal)........
|
I removed the valve cover; I couldn't find any signs of wear or other damage; everything looks good.
Thank you very much for giving me advice!

Hello forum community!
I just wanted to give you a quick update.
After my catalytic converter "rusted away," I had a DPF installed by the "Friendly" mechanic on January 6th (unfortunately, 6 days too late to claim the €330 tax bonus ).
After driving a few hundred kilometers, the engine became increasingly "rev-happy" (and the recent timing belt replacement didn't change anything), so I'm now reaching a top speed of 210 km/h relatively quickly, and after a longer run-in period, even 220 km/h according to the speedometer. Hello, how are you?
It's not quite the "dream performance" of my last Golf, but I can already live with it .
Now it's more fun to drive the car again .
Best regards,
Mark. Golf VII GTD 135kW
