Hi,

The OM352A only produces around 130 horsepower, and likely has an even lower displacement than a typical car engine.
I would say the turbocharger is undersized.

I don't believe that.
Okay, check this out, further down there's an OM 352 with 210 horsepower.

Without knowing more about the engines: I don't think the turbochargers for a 130 hp engine and a 210 hp engine should be the same; it wouldn't make much sense from a design perspective.

Okay, today I built the motor mounts and the frame for the test runs in the garage.
Actually, I also wanted to use the vibration dampers in the boat.
However, I'm not so sure anymore because they are quite soft.
The water pump has been installed, and the 90-amp alternator has been mounted.
New images are available on the pages for the starter motor, alternator (also known as a generator), and water pump.

"I definitely would have left the turbo as the original one, since that would have been sufficient for performance up to 180 horsepower."
Besides that, your turbo has a triangular flange with 3 screws, while the new one has a square flange with 4 screws.

Now it's time to quickly install the engine so that you can finish it in time for your vacation

Sure. But the manifold, right?
If I were to buy a turbocharger, it would be something like a Garrett GT25.
If you have the opportunity, I would like to weld one side of the LLK.
so that the opening faces the other way.
Then you can place it above the engine, which would avoid awkward hose routing.

The manifold, yes.
However, I don't have much vertical space to mount the liquid cooler on top of the engine.
Otherwise, I'm still in the collection phase.
I paid 110 euros for the turbocharger from the OM 352 engine, and I had to jump on that deal because it was a good price.
And that one is new. Unfortunately, the LLK and turbocharger haven't arrived yet.

No, that's correct without a wastegate.

I'm still having a problem.
Looking for a flywheel from an OM 601 or 602 engine.
The 605 has a dual-mass flywheel, and there is no compatible clutch disc available for use with a manual transmission.

Just wanted to check in and see how the project is going.

I hope this helps a little.
But in an emergency, you could also use the ESP vacuum pump and increase the suction power.
It would have the advantage of allowing the turbo to spool up earlier, since the ALDA wouldn't need to reach its maximum pressure first.
Boost pressure needs to be waited for.

I bought an ESP engine from a 605.911, a 2.5-liter 4-valve naturally aspirated engine.
It is currently being updated to version 605.960 of the ESP software.
Everything superfluous should be removed.
I bought a flywheel from the 601 series.
I'm still in the process of collecting parts.
Our vacation starts in 4 weeks.
I built a new swimming platform.
I'm currently finishing up the remaining tasks.
After the vacation, things will really get going.
