Hello,
a) The 3500 EUR is a very optimistic estimate.
b) More than one expert opinion is required (due to different engines/vehicles).
c) How many nozzle sets need to be sold to recoup the estimated €30,000 in expenses for the most common vehicles/engines?
d) Most people probably don't even ask for an expert opinion.
Best regards, Rainer.

Okay, I'd also like to chime in, especially since people were complaining about the Wetterau region.
(Yes, I know this thread is really old.)
I immediately noticed something after purchasing my Audi A3 in February 2001, with a mileage of 82,000 kilometers.
Have the chip installed at ********.
I was given three power output options to choose from: 115 horsepower, 120 horsepower, and 125 horsepower.
The latter seemed like quite a lot of power to me, so I decided to go with the 120 horsepower version.
The initial period went smoothly. However, during the summer, the engine stalled a few times, which, as it turned out later, was due to relay 109.
I didn't know that, and that's why I suspected the chip.
I took it out of the base myself, and in the process, the base broke.
Then I went to ********, explained the problem to him, and in addition to a new base plate, he offered me another software version free of charge – specifically, the one with 125 horsepower, as he said I could benefit from a little extra power.
It has been almost 6 years now, and the odometer reads 265,000 km, which is 180,000 km since I installed the chip. "Self-proclaimed experts" had predicted that it would cause engine damage after a short time.
1. LMM (Mass Air Flow sensor), 1. Fuel injectors. Only a sports clutch was installed 40,000 km ago.
He smokes a little bit, but not enough to cause worry or fear for future generations.

Just for information: Don't be surprised if you have a car with slightly more soot and higher fuel consumption when driving at 265,000 kilometers with the original injectors. Also, don't be surprised if the car gives up under these conditions.
I recently replaced the injectors on a chipped AFN engine with 270,000 km. The old ones looked terrible. And since then, it's using 0.5 liters less fuel and runs noticeably smoother.
This has nothing to do with scaremongering, and your performance level is by no means dangerous for the engine, but especially when it comes to nozzles, you shouldn't skimp on anything... (just like with all maintenance in general). Man muss es nicht brauchen, aber man muss es haben!

You don't have to. I don't either.
I've heard from so-called "experts" that the engine would fail at some point, even back when it had only 160,000 km on it. I don't believe that anymore.
Interestingly, when the chip was new at 82,000 km, it produced more error codes than it does now.
Besides, I only recently tested the nozzles.
"All the injector nozzles were clear. The fuel injection pressure was only slightly off on one cylinder. It was adjusted, and since then, the slight misfire at partial load has disappeared."
The combustion chambers were illuminated, and no signs of melting are visible on the pistons.
Besides that, I use a 50% blend of vegetable oil and regular fuel during the summer.
Just so that those annoying people who say "your engine will give up the ghost" have something to talk about.
Regarding maintenance, I've done all the servicing myself. I never took it to a dealership. I changed the oil every 20,000 - 30,000 km, depending on the weather conditions. However, I always used SLX or SLX LL3 oil, which is top quality.

You can definitely consider this a stroke of luck, unless the plant oil has some kind of effect... (I have no experience with that). But injectors with that mileage usually don't look that good! I've already replaced 6 sets of injectors, and in all of them, the injectors were not in good condition (clogged holes, etc.), although you wouldn't necessarily notice it right away; it only became apparent later when the car started running more smoothly.
What they said about it at 160,000 km was probably based on the fact that they had relatively little experience with those engines... However, the issue with the injectors is definitely a reality now. We've also seen engine damage here in this forum due to faulty injectors... Man muss es nicht brauchen, aber man muss es haben!

It is a fact that the nozzle is clogged with sludge.
I noticed it when I partially disassembled the nozzles last summer. Two out of five holes were blocked.
I then "burned off" the carbon buildup in the engine with diesel fuel, and everything was verschandeln again afterwards.
