Here's the translation:
"To begin with: This refers to the 028 TDI engines with right-side air filters, specifically the 1Z, AFN, AHU, and ALE models, and their variants."
For the TDIs in the Golf4, etc., everything is completely different .
Hi.
The intake manifold between the corrugated pipe and the turbocharger is secured with three screws: two on the turbocharger and one on the intake manifold flange.
Since the part is made of plastic, the screw holes are reinforced with metal inserts.
My upper hose has come loose because it wasn't sitting properly (flat) on the suction nozzle, but instead had slipped off to the side. The contact area on the nozzle is extremely small!
To the right of cylinder 4.

I suspect that I'm experiencing a noticeable whining noise in certain engine speed ranges.
I probably ruined the fun myself because I destroyed it in September 2004.
Unfortunately, the design is so flawed that the bracket has to absorb the engine's vibrations against the air filter, across the screw in an elongated hole – essentially in the way that allows it to absorb the least amount of force.
I wanted to share this information for everyone's benefit - photos and repair suggestions will follow.

Okay, here's a picture to go with it, finally.
The metal ring embedded in the plastic tube has broken off. As a result, the suction pipe can no longer be securely screwed on.

Okay, two simple solutions come to mind, but they certainly might not be the ultimate solution.
1. Use two bodywork shims. However, this has the disadvantage of being a bit fiddly.
2. Cut a piece of galvanized sheet metal to size, bend it into a U-shape, and slide it over the existing structure. Don't forget to drill a hole. If you bend the sheet metal sufficiently, it should hold securely in place.
Just as a thought.

Yes, I already have coasters underneath.
The problem is that the contact area on the intake manifold (or suction manifold) is very small.
It's only slightly larger than the screw (completely poorly designed).
And then the wide, long hole is loaded transversely to the screw - so it can easily slide around .

Tip: Air out the office; it increases the oxygen level. This makes it easier to think!
Use a longer screw, two large washers above and below the pipe, and then tighten it. Done. Where is the problem here?

Ventilating isn't good; it lets the heat in.
This morning at 5:20 AM, it was still nicely cool , except in my garage, where it was 28 degrees.
I'm going to make something...

Okay,
After careful observation, I've discovered:
The screw and U-shaped washer securely hold the eyelet that is embedded in the intake manifold.
Sure, here is the translation of the text from German to English:
"NUR:"
The O-ring has now become dislodged from the pipe and is no longer securely connected to the intake manifold.
Before I put down EUR 37 for this plastic gadget, I'm going to use UHU Endfest 300. I've had pretty good experiences with this two-component adhesive so far.

If you have any, you can incorporate fiberglass or carbon fiber mat.
Best regards,
Rudi

Hello!
I had the same problem with my Polo.
That worked out with two U-shaped brackets.
Possibly search for a donor vehicle at the scrapyard.
Darius.

"Teile Spender" is likely not correct.
This part is always attached to the engines when they are still usable even after being scrapped.
But I have fiberglass insulation.
So, I'm going to mess around with it a little bit today .
Thank you.

Okay, I've found some time (and space @ Julian ).
I'm now gluing the metal loop on and will then work with two "Uscheiben" (likely a specific type of disc or washer).
So far, I've only had one "up close and personal" experience.
In the "rear" image, you can clearly see how the pipe was machined from the metal suction fitting.
Here are some pictures from before the entire procedure.

Okay,
The glue seems to have dried out.
Appropriate gaskets are also available (with a large outer diameter and thin profile).
The yellow pieces are remnants of Post-it notes. I used a clamp to press them together so that the metal insert would fit properly.
The pipe is quite a design flaw, because on one of the lower threaded connections, the metal sleeve is thinner than the plastic. Therefore, the forces of the connection are being borne by the plastic... which is already starting to crack .

Here's one more concluding sentence explaining why I'm addressing this in such detail:
I've always wondered why VW completely changed the air intake system when switching from the Golf 3 to the Golf 4 (i.e., from 028 engines to 038 engines).
As a result of this modification, one of the main advantages is that the motor, which oscillates back and forth, no longer exerts axial force on the air filter housing, but instead exerts force laterally.
Despite the folds, the filter is very stable. The motor on the G3 model pulls the filter in forcefully (take a look at the rubber buffers on the filter housing after a few years; the side one is often almost completely worn away).
In the G4, the folding tube is slightly bent by the motor, which allows it to fold easily.
And that intake pipe to the turbo (the main focus of this thread) has to absorb the forces needed to compress the G3 corrugated pipe – on a completely custom-built setup that doesn't have a corresponding mounting surface on the intake manifold.
