AFN Oil Pan Overhaul Kit

Hi.

There is an overhang in AKTE that extends over the AFN oil pan.

That thing must be additional soundproofing. I have a picture, but it can only be used as a reference photo.

"Does anyone have an AFN (Air Force Network) connection, a way to access the overflow area, and a digital camera? Could you please take some pictures of that part and its installation location and send them to me?"

Is it screwed to the rest of the soundproofing enclosure, or to the motor?

If I'm not mistaken, my VW Golf 3 (manufactured in December 1997) has it as standard equipment. I once removed that part to try and find the source of a leak.

It is attached to the engine with 2 screws and 2 or 3 metal tabs on the oil pan. I should double-check to be sure.

Currently, the visuals are not good due to a lack of suitable equipment.

What do you need them for?

Unfortunately, I don't know what this part is for. The only explanation that comes to mind is that it's for better noise dampening of the metal oil pan. Aluminum would also be quieter, but it's more expensive.

I recognize that exact carpet from my living room! I bought that thing back then with an oil pan for an AFN engine, and I ended up buying another one because I have a large soundproofing pan under my Ibiza TDI!!! As far as I can dimly remember, this was installed in the Passat 35i or Golf 3, which don't have a large soundproofing pan. Otherwise, there wouldn't be enough space in between! I can email you the name of the buyer if I can find it, so you can ask him about it!
