Hi!

What's the best way to install a boost gauge on an AJM engine, specifically regarding the pressure sensor and where to source it?

I had one of those in my Golf 2 TD back then.
I got it from www.conrad.de.
It is simply installed into the charge pressure side using a T-connector (e.g., on the 1Z engine, it's the pipe that comes from the turbo, and there's a connection point there for the charge pressure sensor of the engine control unit).
Unfortunately, I don't really know your engine icon_sad.gif.

Hi,
Here's my tip: Get a pressure gauge with a measurement range up to 1.6 bar. You can connect it to the measurement hose that goes to the engine control unit using a 5mm hose and a T-connector, both available at a hardware store. If your engine doesn't have the pressure sensor in the control unit, but instead on the intercooler, get a syringe needle from your doctor. Insert the thick end (syringe side) into the 5mm hose and secure it with a cable tie, and then carefully insert the needle through the 'rubber grommet' in front of the intake manifold. That's how I did it, and it works great.
If the pressure gauge is vibrating or making noises, it's best to insert some foam into the hose to dampen the vibrations.

Regards,

Eike.

I would rather improvise a T-connector into the hose and secure it with hose clamps or something like that...

I'll need to check soon to see where the best way to access that is.
