OBD Tuning, but how?!

Hi,

I'm constantly reading about ODB II tuning. And would it be worth a try on my Passat 1.9 TDI PD 115hp?

How should one proceed?
What do I need besides an OBD diagnostic interface and VAG-Com?
How exactly is it done?
What will ultimately be changed in the control unit?
Does anyone have a precise guide on how to proceed?
Is there a how-to?

I am a computer scientist, so I can roughly estimate. Describing what is being done, but not knowing the reason and especially the location.

The best way to understand it is with the bee and the flower , so that you can also understand it.

Grundlegende Wissensstände wie ein Motor funktioniert werden prinzipiell erwartet. Dazu zählt auch in ganz groben Zügen was so ein MSG in der Lage ist zu machen.

Also nimm doch noch einen Anlauf.

Yep, und die zweite Stufe (= Chiptuning) ist der Verdienst für eine ganze Branche, und entsprechend gut hütet sie ihre Geheimnisse, bzw. entsprechend teuer wird Spezialwerkzeug (Hard- und Software) zum Tuning gehandelt.

Once your Passat has a Schwingquartz in the tachometer, it will only work if it works at all (for the 115hp models, not all of them work).

Basically, it's quite simple: you just buy a Flashbooster or an ACR, which is a WinOls version for editing the field codes, and then you can get started.


How exactly is it done?
What will ultimately be changed in the control unit?


ECU removed, connect, read PROM, edit parameters (e.g., boost pressure, soot limit, injection quantity, injection time, etc.), re-install the edited file and test drive.

And now, let's be serious. An ECU is unfortunately / thankfully (depending on the perspective) not as simple to program as a USB stick. Also, there is no 'PS setting' in the software that you can simply increase by 20% and be done with it. Here, experience, technical know-how, and some technical equipment are required.

Wobei die Kosten so einer Anschaffung sich niemals rentieren wenn du nur dein eigenes Fahrzeug "tunen" willst - zudem kann dabei viel schief gehen! Ich würde lieber zu einem Tuner deines Vertrauens gehen

Völlig Richtig
Man baut sich auch keine Halle und richtet eine Komplette Werkstatt ein um nur am eigenen Auto Öl zu wechseln
