Hello,

I am currently looking for an Astra G with the 50 kW diesel engine.

Now I notice that in 2 out of 10 ads, vehicles are being offered with a faulty ESP system or with a non-starting engine.
Are there any specific, well-known problems with this engine and the ESP, especially since some vehicles with very low mileage are also being offered?

I am currently using the same engine with 220,000 km, in my Astra F, and so far I haven't had any problems. It is, as far as I know, still a purely mechanical Bosch engine.
ch-Pump, what could it be?

Thank you and best regards.

Toto

Hmm, Probably the ones with the Lucas-ESP, they tend to break down easily, spare parts are hard to find individually!
Probably, they are selling it because the value is much higher than the cost.

Know someone who drives an Astra F 1.7 D with over 375,000 km on it, using the 1st gear. Lucaspumpe

The relatively high number of pump failures is usually related to changing the fuel filters or letting the tank run dry. This is because air entering the pump causes cavitation, which completely destroys the pump. BMW diesels, which are also used in Opel as 6-cylinder engines, are particularly sensitive to this. And the new common-rail diesels. (In workshops, the pumps are usually not manually bled; mechanics work on automated systems, so there is no power or the car won't start shortly after)
