Hello,

Sometimes my Passat stutters briefly. Never really long, and also
rather gently. So, keine ruckartigen Bewegungen, wie z.B. bei einem defekten
Needle driver.
It feels as if for a brief moment (half a second or
so) no fuel comes. He might do it 2-3 times in a row, and
then it's again for kilometers away.
A fault is not cleared, engine speed is also irrelevant, it's jerking.
Idle speed >3000upm. And whether it's with or without cruise control doesn't matter. But it must always be at partial load.
The car is from 98, AFN.
My friend said that there must be a problem with the fuel supply, but we really can't get any further. He can actually get no air, he starts normally every morning.
Does anyone know anything?

Best regards
Ronny

Do you perhaps know something about it?

test the LMM and the AGR valve.
More information can be found in the search function.

Hello,

I am familiar with using a mass airflow meter and the AGR (Air-Gas Ratio) sensor, but the problem isn't there. That would be too easy... icon_confused.gif

Best regards

Hi,

Use the search function !!!! Ulf and I have already come up with some really great theories about the "pump-rack" problem (difficult-moving gear, over-lubrication...).
In the error database, there is also an entry!

Hi Bertil,

How is your car doing these days?
Is he still stuttering, or is there finally some peace?

Hi Ulf,

Currently, it's not stuttering anymore... because it's not running at all. Today, I was on a 4-lane federal highway with a median and no parked vehicles icon_eek.gif icon_eek.gif. I made a daring jump to get behind the barrier and called for roadside assistance (while remaining hidden). Then, I got help from the "Gentlemen's Singing Association" (Grün-Weiß Wiesbaden) who pushed the car 500 meters into a designated emergency pull-over area icon_confused.gif and waited for the towing service. Diagnosis: Pump failure (I know a saying about that...)
Tomorrow, I will pick up the car with the tow truck from my mechanic (or, better yet, I'll go and choose a new car right away).
Up until it stopped working, he hadn't driven for about 250km, but then it started again, and after another 200km, it stopped completely.

Unfortunately, it seems that I will no longer be able to purchase any VAG products for the farm. I currently cannot find a reasonable VE TDI, and a PD engine is not an option due to my distrust of this technology due to the timing belt drive!! Therefore, it will likely be a counter-move by competitors. icon_sad.gif

Hi Bertil

Something like this is, of course, extremely annoying. Fortunately, it seems there was no accident...

Don't you think a new (replacement) pump could be worthwhile?

What do you mean by "no reasonable VE TDI"?
As a used item or a new model?
Gruß Ulf

I'm also glad... icon_smile.gif

at 1400 EUR icon_sad.gif, I also thought about it for a long time, but the car needs to pass the TÜV now... The muffler is making noise again... and I was thinking about what else might break soon (and I don't need to dig a grave for it!), icon_sad.gif icon_sad.gif
It was a great car...

But now, the great news: I will stay with you!! There's another Golf for sale -- specifically a G4 Kombi 2001 Special 74KW (unfortunately PD) icon_confused.gif
I was able to get a good price for my old 1Z.

By the way, my "still" 1Z is working again - cable break behind the relay plate - The dealer (where I'm now buying the new car) found it in 10 minutes icon_surprised.gif ... "it happens often".

I spent the whole afternoon taking the car apart (removed the navigation system, the alarm system, and the sports seat; also transferred the double headlights, the parking sensors, and the leather steering wheel from my father's car icon_smile.gif )

As a new model, only available for derivatives (Seat, Skoda) and at unreasonably low prices...
I don't live in a big city where vendors often have multiple TDI's on the premises -- if they have them, you can refer to them as "von"... I would have preferred the 81kw engine (for the caravan) and these are quite rare as a combination.

Hi Bertil

Therefore, the shaking could actually be caused by the cable break, rather than the pump itself?

Well, in any case, have a good run with the PD - there should still be some extra power remaining even after accounting for the added weight icon_smile.gif

I once took a test drive in a 74 kW Polo, which is roughly the same weight as my Golf. The temperament of the Polo was roughly on par with the G3 with the AFN in series trim, but it tended to fatigue slightly earlier at the top end.
The saying "Torque is more important than horsepower" seems to hold true in this comparison - the 74 kW PD engine actually has 5 Nm more than the 81 kW engine.

When will you receive the new one?

I hope that you will continue to contribute to the general increase in knowledge here in the future - specifically on the topic of "PD, the unknown entity" icon_wink.gif

Yes, I was also excited... but it still stutters just like before.

According to the brochure, it's only 70kg?????!!!!
G3 empty 1195kg gross weight 1695kg
G4 empty 1263kg gross weight 1790kg

As a limousine, with the smallest TDI engine.

Possibly still on Friday, or next week. They still need to have the detachable tow hitch and cruise control installed (free of charge!!!!!!)

I am currently looking for the training materials.... icon_wink.gif

I will make an effort not to "forget" my knowledge about the 1Z and will continue to assist you with the PD's.
