Hi.
I'm trying to order the seat heating for my G4. The dealer says that the seat heating is sewn into the fabric cover. I tried to order the cover using the vehicle identification number, but it came up without seat heating. Now I've removed the cover as far as possible so I can see the part number (ET number). In doing so, I discovered that in my car, the seat heating isn't sewn into the cover, but is a separate unit underneath the seat. The dealer says there's no individual heating element available. However, they also only sell the cover without the heating element.
It's a G4, manufactured in March 2001, and it's a special edition model.
Seat cover, part number: 1J0 881 405 T LXB.
Das Auto wurde Werkseitig mit Sitzheizung ausgeliefert. Certainly.

Do you have any ideas about this? Or can you tell me which heating element it is, and how/where I can order it, possibly with an ET number?

Best regards, Bolzer.

If anyone needs the exact part number, no problem, just send me a private message.

for understanding:

You have a SH installed, but it's broken, so you want to order a single, new one?

Okay, please provide the German text you would like me to translate into English. I will only provide the translation.

Hi, usually it's just a broken cable that can be soldered (at the connection point between the power cord and the heating element or the plug).

Despite the requested numbers:

Seat: 1J0 936 555 with index:
B for standard seats.
F for which ones with extended print run.
G for Recaro.

Lehne: 1J0 936 557 with index:
C for standard seats.
F for which ones with extended print run.
G for Recaro.

If the service sticker on the model code doesn't say "PR-2Q2", you have the standard seat version. The other versions also have panels for the side areas, but before you replace anything, you should first determine which ones are broken.

Cost: €57 each.

If there are any uncertainties, we need the codes from the service booklet.

Regards,
Sure.

Here is the translation of the text from German to English:

"Guste" means "gust" in English. It can also be used as a verb, meaning "to gust."

Hi.
Thank you for the quick help. Why couldn't the friendly person find it icon_question.gif icon_confused.gif? Never mind. The seat cushion still works. Actually, it works too well. It's almost burning a hole in my... but only in one spot. That's strange. I've also read that someone at BMW had their pants burned by something similar.
Thanks again for everything. I'll pass this along to my mechanic and see what he says.
Best regards, Bolzer.

No idea, it was totally obvious. You should probably go back when a different person is at the parts counter. The level of competence also varies greatly depending on who you talk to at my VW dealership, ranging from completely useless to friendly and helpful.

Sure.

Hello, your "hot topic" suggests that the wire broke at a particularly hot spot. Due to movement with the arm, it makes contact again with the body, causing sparking and heating (higher transient resistance).
The spot with the thinnest wire is most likely to heat up, resulting in localized heating.
In some places, the fabric is also scorched, which can be seen from the dark spots.

"The same thing happened to mine. The cable for the heating element was broken where it connects from the seat cushion to the side bolsters (Highline seats), and it had scorched the fabric. I resoldered the cable, properly insulated it, and it's been working fine ever since."
