Hi girls,

Our car's A2 service is due soon, at 90,000 km.
Since I was able to sell my A6 icon_biggrin.gif,
and now it has to be the A2 long-distance cruiser.
Of course, he should receive the necessary maintenance.

Okay, so I did a little digging, ZR+Spanner/Rollers+WP.
friendly: €600 (distant relatives)
friendly: €480 (regular customer with company discount)
free: €398 (Motorenprofis in Bielefeld)

Does anyone have any experience with the professionals from Bielefeld?

Is the €80 surcharge worth it at freundlich2?
Is the car from the year 2000, and does it have gaps in the service history? If so, there's probably no room for any goodwill gestures or discounts, right?

What would you do?

Thomas.

hi.

For me, it's quite clear:

friendly second-best [or first-best at the price of two].

I don't allow independent "motor experts" or other workshops to work on the timing belt, because they often lack the correct torque specifications or don't know which screws need to be replaced. Sometimes, they also lack the specialized tools required, which leads to "improvised" solutions.

You can usually forget about warranty extensions for vehicles manufactured in the year 2000. Audi typically offers warranty extensions until the end of the third year.

Hi,

Even though these engine experts (whose name is actually 'Motorenprofis,' you can Google it) ...
regarding the overhaul/reconditioning of VAG TDIs.
'Have they specialized in this area, and is everything you read online positive?'

Does anyone here have personal experience with those?

Thomas.

I didn't want to rate this specific company, but rather I generally choose "Motoren-Profis" for all independent workshops, as well as for chains like ATU, Pitstop, and all the others.

Typically, specialized workshops have the most experience with this kind of thing. Of course, there are always exceptions, as is often the case.

Since you're active in this forum and probably have some knowledge (and a good rating), I'd like to suggest my method to you:

Go to a "budget-friendly" provider and watch the repair being done. Make sure to check beforehand if they allow this, as some might not. Then, immediately decline their offer.
Then you can assess for yourself where corners might have been cut.

Before you start, you might want to read the repair manual for the timing belt replacement of the A2 model.

But honestly: Is the stress really worth it for 80 euros? I mean, I'm not made of money, but someone who drives two Audis and regularly maintains them... 80 euros can't be that much for them, right?

Sure, no problem.

Regarding your comments:
- I would never go to ATU; that's not even a question.
- I've had my fair share of experiences with 'Freundlich,' and some of them haven't been very positive.
- Watching is not a problem for those in Bielefeld.
- Thankfully, I'm not driving two Audis anymore.
The AKN was truly the worst train I've ever ridden.
The comfort, driving experience, and diesel fuel consumption are all very good.
But other than that, the maintenance/repair workshop prices/customer service are very, very premium. icon_evil.gif

I have quite a strong dislike for Audi.
Therefore, I actually plan to go to the engine specialist.
and not to waste another 80 euros at that friendly but clueless store.
if/in case
mir hier nicht jemand dringend abrät, wegen neg. Experiences.

Thomas.

Sure, here's the translation:

"Two more notes:"
If the car is from the year 2000, it should have a maintenance interval of 60,000 km, while 90,000 km was, to my knowledge, only introduced from 2001 onwards. If it's a later model from the year 2000, then 90,000 km might be correct.
"I wouldn't drive a car with a 60,000 km service interval for a full 90,000 km, because the timing belt system has been significantly changed. I usually only drive a maximum of 10,000 km on a timing belt change and check in between to see if anything is starting to fail."
The prices seem expensive to me too.
In my workshop near Hamburg, the labor cost for replacing the timing belt on a 2000 Volkswagen Lupo with an AMF engine is €115 plus parts (which costs around €150 if you buy original parts from VW). I'm not sure what additional work is required on the A2 to access the timing belt.
I wouldn't go to chain stores like ATU unless I really know the business well.
Otherwise, I wouldn't mind getting a free consultation if they also treat other PD-TDIs.
I would even prefer that to VW, if I could just watch.
These engine specialists in Bielefeld apparently also do complete overhauls. That means they should be able to do a timing belt replacement.

Regards,

Olaf.

According to my information, the maintenance intervals for the A2 model have been around 90,000 kilometers since the 1990s. From the model year 2004 onwards, it's even 120,000 kilometers.

I don't allow 'motor experts' or other workshops to work on the timing belt, because they often lack the correct torque specifications or don't know which screws need to be replaced. Also, specialized tools are sometimes missing, so they have to 'improvise.'icon_wink.gif

While I know some people who possess far more expertise and skill than a VW/Audi dealership icon_wink.gif.

Topic: Good Will. If the service booklet is filled out and the inspections have been carried out, there is usually a good chance of good will being applied in the event of a timing belt failure. If there are gaps, the situation may look different. In the event of a defect (hopefully it never happens), more good will may be granted than at a free workshop. }

Okay, so it's different. For VW (Polo and Lupo), it's 60,000 until the year 2000, 90,000 from 2001, and 120,000 from 2004.

Regards,
Olaf.

Okay,
I had it done today, at the friendly [mechanic/shop].
I also managed to get an oil change done (using the oil they provided).
and get a rental car (with 75km included).

It was completed on time and wasn't more expensive than the KVA.

I am satisfied.

Thomas.
