Document: "Liegenbleiber" (Stalling), AKN (Acne Keloidalis Nectaria) and AKE (Acne Keloidalis Erythematosa) Motors (Solution)

V6 TDI, AKN/AKE Engine
Stalling, engine sputtering, engine cutting out and not restarting.

Cause:
Incorrect resistance sizing within the motor control device. At high ambient temperatures and strong sunlight, the motor will stop and not restart after a short stutter. In the memory of the engine control unit, the following intermittent faults are stored:
01318 Fuel pump control unit, no communication.
00546 Data management system malfunction, recorded. After approximately one hour of "cooling time" outside of direct sunlight, the errors can be cleared, and the motor is
starts up again.
Vehicles with a V6 TDI engine manufactured between 04/14/2000 and 07/12/2000, including vehicles with engine control units within the specified production timeframe.

Approach:
Does the control unit fall within the manufacturing period of 14.04 - 12.07.00, and the aforementioned error codes are stored:
Engine Control Unit (ECU) - Part Replacement.
