Hello, I've already read several posts about the 10 or 20 cent tuning adjustments for VP engines.
I have also read Rainer's article several times.

I have a turbocharger in my Octavia Combi, and I occasionally want to extract a little more power from it.

I'm still not entirely clear about the modification involving the pull-up resistor – specifically, where it's connected. Where exactly does the pull-up resistor go, and what resistance values can be used? Should it be adjusted with a potentiometer, or is it better to use fixed resistor values? Also, does it need to be turned on with a delay?

What other options are there? Can the boost pressure be increased by 0.1 to 0.2 bar by changing the resistor? What resistor value corresponds to a change from 1.3 to 1.4 bar or 1.5 bar? Is it also 18k ohms for 0.1 bar and 27k ohms for 0.2 bar? I know that one should be very careful with this... because of the potential for overshooting and the regulator's sluggishness.

Are there any other methods? I don't want to use a pre-built solution where I don't know exactly what's inside and how much 'modification' is involved.

Thank you for the tips.

Me too icon_twisted.gif.
'10 degrees Celsius at the VP sensors is already borderline. For the PD sensors, it's nonsense (fuel temperature fake).'
or expensive (uC Box) and, in any case, worse than a decent microcontroller.

Whether the extra power is used for increased acceleration or to compensate for the tire width.
Everyone must decide for themselves.

Best regards,
Rudi

The FA refers to the MSA 15 generation from AFN and Co.
The pull-ups are located in the MSG. As for where to find the newer EDC 15 models now: I have no idea; everything is even more compact there than in the MSAs icon_evil.gif.

Otherwise, what Rudi already wrote applies: nothing beats good chip tuning (except good chip tuning plus sensible hardware modifications), but not without wide tires that negate the performance gains.

Increasing the LD (lambda) value alone won't give you much benefit, and I would generally advise against manipulating the SG (slip gauge) without precise instructions. Especially when tuning PD (pressure distribution) engines, I wouldn't recommend making experiments with small adjustments like 10 or 20 cents.

CU Danko.

I just realized that the ASZ is actually a PD engine, so I've rephrased my previous post.

For PD printers, larger nozzles are probably not as cost-effective, or icon_question.gif

The bare nozzles are likely to be priced in the same range as VP nozzles, BUT the replacement process is...
not possible with DIY methods (unlike with VP holder combinations).

Rudi

Okay, then.
If you all strongly advise against it, I will refrain from doing it.
What about the newer Hopa boxes (DigitalDivo)? What's inside them?
Just for fun?

Thank you for your answers.

What's with everyone bashing the wide tires?
The difference is minimal (in terms of performance).
It looks better that way.
What's the point of having 170 horsepower with 195 tires in the end?
In the end, everything needs to be right and well-coordinated.
Based on my experience, I have to say it's a good chip.
Ultimately, it's better to have professionals handle it, as the risk of something breaking is simply too high.

Tuning Pump-Nozzle units PD 520 available here in the shop - 699.00 EUR icon_razz.gif.
So much more expensive than the good old VP nozzles...

I believe it...
What's the point of having a fuel consumption of 5-6 liters, and every time you take a turn, you feel like you're in a carriage pulled by 170 horses?
But, as I said, the entire package needs to be right.

If the carriage then overtakes you from the outside in the curve during heavy rain, you know why... icon_smile.gif

P.S.: Wide tires are not a guarantee of good road handling or high cornering speeds. I've often experienced that racing vehicles with narrower tires (of the same compound) were significantly faster than those with wider tires.

If you buy the pump from VP as well, then the situation changes again. In that case, VP tuning is clearly at a disadvantage.
