I have bought CDs from E... several times, thinking they were original software based on the pictures and descriptions (Ross-Tech), but they turned out not to be.
The content included VAG-COM programs, parameter maps, and tuning files.
The CDs always arrived burned and in an envelope.
In the end, it only contained junk files and some programs that were completely disorganized, even though the description stated that it included full versions.
I often wonder how to distinguish legitimate sellers from scammers, especially since there are legitimate sellers mixed in with the fraudulent ones.
What is the legal situation? Can I demand a refund? And can I throw the CDs in the trash?
I'm not sure if this belongs here, but it's an interesting topic at the end.
No, it is not. You can purchase Vag-Com or licenses from Ross-Tech or one of their distributors. The license is not transferable. Therefore, selling a 'full version' or shareware with a crack is illegal. And, as far as I know, Ross-Tech or their partners are not sellers on eBay

.
'Ebay maps are disastrous for engines, and tuning files are certainly just as bad. Most programs from various manufacturers (WinOls, Et*a, El*a, etc.) are also subject to licensing and are not legally obtainable by ordinary citizens. Anyone who buys such things is committing a crime.'
I would try to claim the money back through/via eBay (e.g., because the item significantly deviates from the product description) in order to minimize the damage.
