CUPRA 6L TDI: Gearbox Questions & Problems

My friend has a Cupra TDI.

He has a 'relatively short' gear ratio...

We once drove a 130 horsepower Ibiza and were surprised... it only reached around 3000 RPM at 200 km/h.

Now he's complaining about a fuel consumption of 10.0 liters per 100 km when driving on the highway (speeding, always over 200 km/h if possible...).

Will it make a difference if he installs this transmission from the 130 hp TDI engine?

Does it handle the load?

It's supposed to have around 200 horsepower and 400 Nm of torque...

Yep, that's what many Cupra drivers dream of.
However, you'll need to find an older transmission (called "FSM" in the 9N Polo), as the newer ones from the 130 hp models are only slightly longer than the one from the Cupra, making the effort not worthwhile.
With consistent Autobahn driving, the longer gear ratio probably won't noticeably reduce fuel consumption, but the (theoretical / downhill) maximum speed increases to over 240 real km/h .

The basic construction of the gearboxes is the same, so it should work.
