It still runs at full load with an excess of air (oxygen).
Or was the question why he wasn't injecting 'more' here?
That's just how the pump is designed.

However, this is primarily related to a mechanical quantity limitation. For example, mechanically controlled turbo-diesel engines have a connection for increasing the injection quantity at the pump, which is activated when there is boost pressure. This is controlled by pressure. The quantity limitation varies depending on the model, and the French, in particular, sometimes produce impossible inventions using centrifugal regulators.

By the way, if she wants to keep the car running for a long time, it's probably best not to do that, because the performance increase in a vehicle like that puts a lot of strain on the already not-perfect materials, and, if I remember correctly, the braking system of an AX is only marginally different from that of a 2CV. Also, the TÜV (German technical inspection) and ABE (General Operating Permit) are definitely something your girlfriend should consider.

impossible inventions, about centrifugal regulators.
I've actually found something similar recently.
'In mechanically controlled injection pumps, the...
Injection quantity controlled by the centrifugal regulator and the start of fuel delivery.
'(Injection timing) is controlled by the injector control unit.'
So, as expected, it's controlled purely by the speed.

It's questionable - and something I plan to look into in the near future - whether...
This control can be influenced by centrifugal regulators or sub-pressure.
allows it to be used for a vote on the loader.
Alternatively, ask the tuning shop how they envision it.

The braking system of an AX differs only to a limited extent from that of an 'Ente'.
I can't really say much about the rear drums, but the front rotors are new.
made, and they provide relatively good resistance without requiring much pressure on the pedal.
Sure, if something breaks after the installation, I will have the problem icon_cool.gif.

'Thanks & best regards.'
Peter.

Hi fellow namesake,

First, we need to determine which manufacturer the pump is from, as Citroen sometimes uses Lucas pumps, which operate differently from, for example, Bosch's distributor injection pumps. I'm relatively familiar with mechanical Bosch pumps, and I know the operating principles of Lucas pumps, but I haven't disassembled one yet, so I can't tell you which screws to turn and how to adjust it to make it do what you want.

Centrifugal governors are present in all mechanically controlled distributor injection pumps; without it, speed regulation would not be possible. The diesel engine itself is essentially an unstable machine; if the same amount of fuel were always pumped into the combustion chamber at the same time, it would either stall or run away. The centrifugal governor, in conjunction with the lever system and the actual speed regulator, ensures that when the throttle is in a constant position and the engine speed increases, less fuel reaches the cylinders, and when the speed decreases, more fuel is injected. Basically, this device pushes a lever in one direction, while the spring(s) of the speed regulator try to pull it in the other direction.

If you want to explain to your ECU what boost pressure is and what can be done with it, you'll need to install a boost pressure enrichment system, or LDA for short. This can be done either by replacing the cover and removing a fixed pin, or, especially if you can't or don't want to experiment with it, by replacing the entire pump. The LDA essentially shifts the full-load limit slightly later, depending on the applied boost pressure.

Now I have to move on, and if you have any more questions, we can talk about them another time.

Smoky greetings.
Peter.

Hi!

First of all, thank you for the response. However:

... in conjunction with the lever arm arrangement and ...
That sounds interesting. However, you can't expect me to know what that is icon_sad.gif.

a bar that extends in one direction
Beam ?? I need the basics !! icon_evil.gif

Load pressure enrichment, or LDA for short... The full load point should be shifted slightly further towards the late part of the cycle.
Sure, it must work in a similar way to the wastegate on a turbocharger.
just at the pump, but with a different scale.

Hi Peter,

"Please obtain the technical documentation 'Diesel Distributor Injection Pumps' from Bosch, Bosch order number 1 987 722 014. I don't have the ISBN readily available, but any Bosch service center can sell it to you using that number. It doesn't cost much, I believe around 10 euros. You can also find it online with a little searching, although I don't have a current link. It contains everything you need to understand a distributor injection pump, and much more."

Do you remember those old scales where you would put the item you wanted to weigh in one pan, and weights were placed in the other pan? Or the two pans that hang from a horizontal bar suspended in the middle? You often see these scales in front of statues in courthouses; they are a symbol of Justice. This horizontal bar is called the balance beam. The lever mechanism of a mechanical electronic spark advance (ESP) works in exactly the same way, except that the item you want to "weigh" is determined by the throttle lever, and the "weights" are the pressure from the centrifugal regulator.

Perhaps you remember centrifugal regulators from (toy) steam engines, where they might have been, for example, two iron balls that were driven along and, depending on the speed, would swing out more or less like the gondolas of a chain carousel, only that the further they swung out, the more they would restrict the steam supply. The centrifugal regulator in an ESP probably does the same thing and could have been directly copied from there. icon_smile.gif

Smoky greetings.
Peter.
