Hello dear participants,
I posted a while ago that I wanted to upgrade the graphics card (GPU) in my G3 1Z.
This weekend, the time finally came.
I found the circuit diagram here (it's probably very well known to those interested in the topic).
http://www.vw-dreams.de/GRANACHRUESTUNG/gra.html
As a 4-pin connector, I chose the "budget" option using "used" pins and hot glue. It worked great.
I purchased the following switches from Conrad: 1x SPDT switch (normally open/normally closed), 1x "changeover pushbutton" (normally open)/normally closed/(normally open) (it has the same construction as a switch, but functions like a pushbutton, returning to its default position when released).
Toggle switch for on/off, and a rocker button for resume (press up) and set (press down).
The entire unit is mounted under a blind cover next to the recirculation switch, below the heating switches, making it conveniently accessible from the switch lever. I've also installed two LEDs that indicate the switching status (green = GRA off, yellow = GRA active - yellow like a warning), and they also help guide the way in the dark.
Everything was carefully soldered and insulated.
Today, I went to the friendly staff and had the GRA activated, also making a donation to the coffee fund. They actually asked me for the "brochure with the CODE number." Of course, I had the printout from the website mentioned above with me, along with the instructions, so it was done in a flash.
Conclusion: A great value at 8 EUR plus the cost of coffee, finally a chance to enjoy some soldering and crafting, and the good feeling of having accomplished something.
Here's a picture before installation:
Also recht herzlichen Dank an Euch, besonders natürlich an Thomas aka. Necrite.
Best regards,
Eric.
