Body control module, Polo 9N

Hello everyone,

I have a question about the body control module (BCM) in the Polo 9N.
Brief background.
Since January 2006, my windshield wiper has been malfunctioning in wet weather.
He's jumping wildly between the different speed settings.
The steering wheel-mounted gear lever and the switches on the hood have already been replaced.
Last week, I took my car to the workshop to have the error codes read because the windshield wipers were acting up again... however, NO ERRORS were displayed.
The master mechanic said that the body control module is defective...
"In humid weather, moisture can seep in and potentially cause integrated circuits to short circuit..." ?!?!?!??

Shouldn't error messages be stored in the fault memory if there is a defective body control module?

Wouldn't multiple systems be affected, and not just the windshield wipers?

Does anyone have any ideas about where else I could look?

Typical workshop nonsense: that would be a design flaw and would have to occur on a massive scale.

It depends on how far the self-diagnosis goes...

It depends on the defect.

Check for chafing points in the wiring harness between the steering column switch and the BNSTG (Body Network System Transceiver Gateway), and inspect the switch itself.

I suspect the problem is more likely related to the exterior area, as it only occurs in damp weather.
In the summer, I had a standard windshield wiper.
I'll still check for wear marks.
The switch is already new.

I'd like to take a look at the wiring on the windshield wiper motor.
I read that problems with the limit switch on the wiper motor can cause the symptoms described above.
Do you need any special tools to detach the windshield wipers from the shaft, or is it enough to just loosen the nut?

You don't need to worry about this: The end switch definitely cannot change the speed (except when turning off from "fast" mode, in which case the wiper will slowly move to its final position).

Okay, that was a bit vaguely worded. Sometimes it just stays on or turns on even when I haven't moved the lever.

If I move the lever down to indicate that the wiper should wipe once, it simply stays on.
Important: This only applies in wet weather!

Okay, here's a silly question on the side: Where can I find the body control module (BCM) in a Polo? My girlfriend has a Polo Cross, and I want to install a cruise control system in it, but I need the part number of the BCM for that.
