Hello.

I bought an oil temperature sensor for my TDI (ARL). The instructions say that you need to remove a blind screw from the oil filter flange and replace it with the screw that comes with the sensor. However, I can't find a blind screw on my flange. Is this normal, or are there no screws on some models?

Certainly. Here's the translation:

"Thank you very much."

Best regards.

Thomas Pflieger.

Hi.

When you are standing in front of the motor, there should be an Allen screw inserted on the left side.

The filter flange is the same for all diesel engines.

Hello.

I thought so too, but unfortunately, there's no screw there that you can remove. There's a small protrusion, but there's no screw in it, even though it might look like there is. I checked on my ARL model (year 2002) and on an ASZ model (year 2003). According to AKTE, there are 3 screws visible on the flange on the right side, one of which is the turbo supply line. Could it be that they are located on the right side? It's really difficult to see. Does anyone have a photo?

Although there is a small protrusion, there is no screw in it, even though it may appear that way. icon_sad.gif
Hi,

I'm experiencing the same problem with my Polo, even though it has a different (more compact) oil filter housing than the one installed in the G4 platform.
The screw-saving method seems to be working }.

Okay, I also looked at that Golf IV ASZ and thought it was weird!

What do you mean by "saving screws"?

Did they use a different mold where there's no flange at all for the screw, or did they just not drill and tap the thread?

Regarding (2), one could still do some more work icon_smile.gif.

.
It's probably closer to 2.
However, as far as I know, common adapters are designed for flat sealing surfaces to accommodate washers. In contrast, the suggested flange shows a rough cast aluminum surface.

And if, when reworking, you can't achieve exactly 90° between the thread and the sealing surface, you'll have a constant oil leak (as long as there's anything left in the tank). icon_sad.gif

Hi everyone.

I heard from another forum that there's supposed to be a Y-adapter for the oil pressure sensor. Is that true? That would be really great! You could just unscrew the oil pressure sensor, screw in the adapter, and then screw the sensors into the two openings.

Best regards.

Thomas.

Oh man, I can't find this part anywhere. Does anyone happen to know where I can get one?

Hi everyone,

1.9 TDI ASZ engine, Seat Ibiza 6L, first registration 2004.

Is there an oil temperature sensor located on the right side, near the oil filter housing?
It seems to be a plug with a single-pole cable.

Can the temperature be read via OBD? In the module-specific data of the engine control unit (MSG), it always only shows 0 degrees icon_cry.gif.

"Thank you."
Jochen.

It's a pressure sensor. The oil temperature might be readable in the combination instrument control unit (MIB), using the sensor located in the oil pan.

Thank you for the answer icon_smile.gif.

When it gets warmer, I need to investigate that more closely. Soon, I have an oil change scheduled, and then I can also look underneath to see if there's a sensor there icon_wink.gif.

I took a closer look the other day... the car doesn't have an oil temperature sensor located on the bottom of the oil pan icon_rolleyes.gif.

The recess is there, and there are 3 threads, but nothing else.

Yes, with Seat, the long-life service was sometimes only introduced later, which partially explains the situation.
I'm sorry that it's not working.
